bored now. Can people not post if they're just rehashing stuff previously said? Reading these posts i feel like i'm being asked to take sides between two six year olds. The few genuinely informative and interesting posts are drowned out by infantile spouting off. But i have to admit, i'm looking forward to seeing if anyone lies down in front of the bulldozers to stop the building.:)

Sorry anon - promise I'll try and say no more on the subject after this.

Can those so adamant that the supermarket should be sited at Sandy Lane tell me if they are aware of the proposed siting of the Youth Centre, Skate Park and Children's Play Area. Just in case they don't here is the scenario if Tesco get there way.

Imagine you are stood in Sandy Lane. You have your back to where the car/coach park/bowling green is. You are looking up the avenue of trees towards the art deco pavilion. Okay, with me so far? Yes? Good, then I'll continue. Looking up towards the avenue of trees you would then have Tesco plus car park plus service area immediately to the right of the trees. Immediately to the left of the trees is scheduled to be sited the Youth/Communty Centre plus Skate Board Plaza. The Children's Play area that is there at the moment being relocated to up behind the art deco pavilion. I have no idea what the plans are, if any, for the (re)siting of the creche that also operates in that area.

Do you know what I see in that scenario? Lots of children and lots of cars. Lots of danger and lots of exhaust fumes. Nuf said? Or do I need to come back on again and annoy Anon some more?

Amazed how everyone starts worrying about car fumes and safety of children and RTA's as a lever NOT to have a supermarket. Are you sure its safe for the little darlings to have a skate park? .. they may hurt themselves.

If Tesco does come here, shopping policy is that locals will not use it unless desperate, people will still go shop elsewhere just to get away for the day from what seems to be the most disliked town in Devon.

Has a 10 mile or so catchment area. If people here do use it will certainly make history! Barclays Bank and HSBC Bank left Dawlish due to lack of use otherwise they would still be here surely.

Oh I see. So....people here won't use and it will travel out to do their shopping. Whilst those others in the 10 miles catchment area will travel here to do their shopping.

Right? wrong?

Cars going every whichway then.

Yep spot on. Is how it seems everywhere. People who live where they live always travel .. crazy but true. I knew a customer in another part of Devon who travelled into town once a week and was a very good customer to the shop, when they announced they were moving to the town, they nolonger came to the shop!
