Can i take a wild guess that the majority of people opposing Tescos are people that are on their own or can afford to shop locally and expensively!!! and have nothing better to occupy their minds other than try to tell us what they think we all want! The younger generation and their families are going to be the future of dawlish and many families are like myself with a few children, work jolly hard and need competetive prices and good service from our shops to be able to feed and clothe ourselves. So before you sad, lonely and bitter people try and oust any future for dawlish, just remember us younger residents will be here long after you will!

I think you might find Deb that whilst some of us are absolutely anti a supermarket at Sandy Lane we are not anti supermarket in principle. So, why does it have to be at Sandy Lane?

Why not sandy lane? It's only the football pitches that tesco want and they are moving anyway. So then we will be left with a large open space for even more dog fouling.
There will still be plenty of green area for children to excersice, but most of them seem to prefer sandy lane car park.

Dawlish United are moving yes. (and therein lies a story) Dawlish Town AFC? Well...it depends on where they want to go and whether or not they get planning permission.

Still don't see why that makes it okay to build on green open space.

The thing is, at the end of the day, wherever any supermarket, not just Tescos would be situated, there is always going to be somebody, usually the same people, trying to oppose it! and put obstacles in its way when and where it suits them.

Wrong! DADS is only concerned with Sandy Lane and immediate area.

lets face it, all D.A.D.S are worried about is protecting their house prices, if they actually thought about it they would realise that the re-development of sandy lane in this manner espec with the proposed skate park etc,may actually increase the value of their homes.

I dont think there is any evidence that house prices go up if you have a skate park and a Supermarket nearby. Ii is probably the main reason why they dont want it otherwise they would welcome the development with open arms.
Having said that, people are always complaining about high house prices, so maybe Tesco is the answer to that too 'Every little helps' lol.

Er....excuse me? When has DADS said anything about not wanting a skate park at Sandy Lane?
We are concerned ONLY with preventing the recreation ground from being developed for retail, commercial or residential purposes.

And...for what it is worth...we have supporters who live the other side of Dawlish from Sandy Lane so your claim about house prices doesn't really hold water does it?

Typical comment from Anon. I like Tesco's just not the location, if they were not sure of getting it then why did they buy the lease option of Dawlish Football Club?
