Because the Tesco leaflet is full of very cleverly worded statements, what appears to be the case is not necessarily so. For example, its comments that "the Recreation Ground will be left alone" and "We have no intention to develop or change the recreation ground" are only true if you go along with what appears to be Tesco's unilateral decision that both the area known as The Hockey Pitch (and where Dawlish United presently play) and the leased area where Dawlish Town AFC presently play are NOT part of the recreation ground. Since when?
It also says "The local Council want any new supermarket as close as possible to the Town Centre. The Football Pitch is the closest available". Which local council are we talking about? Dawlish Town Council?. Teignbridge District Council? Devon County Council?
Which football pitch are we talking about? That leased by Dawlish Town AFC from Teignbridge District Council or more than that?
Why is the football pitch (however it is defined) the closest available? It isn't the closest available 'cos IT AIN'T FOR SALE!
So...how on earth can this 'survey' be valid when it's accompanying booklet is based at best on linquistic sleight of hand and at worst on outright lies!
