Tesco's seems to be the big talking point at the momment with people for and against the development of Sandy Lane and how much it will ruin the area. At least Tesco's can bring something to the town unlike the fair that arrives every summer. What does the fair give to Dawlish? A lawn that looks like crap for the rest of the summer and each year it gets worse. The shops in Dawlish certainly do not benefit from it and all we get in exchange is a bloody firework display. The Lawn is the center-piece of Dawlish take pride in it its beautiful if it's look after. It's there for locals & holiday makers to enjoy like in carnival week.Unfortunately you can not stop progress but you could stop the fair and protect your center-piece

Why not just build an air field at sandy lane, then the aircraft from the display during carnival week could stay there all summer, then they wouldnt have to burn so much aviation fuel whilst going to Dartmouth and Torquey regatta's, therefore "saving the enviroment" and the carnival committee £17000!

Maybe the pilots would pop into tesco's for lunch.

Yep as said somewhere it is the answer.. that would put an end to the boring fair and Tesco would be in the centre of town. The town would not be quiet anymore would it? ..the Post Office can be relocated inside too, you can weigh your parcels with your shopping at the checkout, just so easy.
Grass over the roof, add a play area and a slide, seats around the edge.. that will keep the kids busy whilst you're shopping. No chance of cars running them over. Lovely views around Dawlish!
You can walk over to support the the butchers and the veg shop, they are cheaper than supermarkets as you know. So the town wins every each way and the Coop that you all hate so much will go away.
Problem solved.
