@1263 It's officially the run in to the General election on July 4th, so the Lib Dem Cllrs and their supporters are usually more than happy to give up their time and do the odd litter pick. Oh hang on, that's just for photo opportunities in the press and on their social media, posing as community spirited and 'green'. If you've ever seen them picking litter or painting graffiti'd walls you know ...
Teignbridge Rotten Borough's Posts
@1263 Officers are Council staff employed in the various departments from waste and recycling, to housing, electoral services, etc, as opposed to elected members (Councillors). Officers do not make unilateral decions, they are accountable to senior staff and Cllrs on the Committe that relates to their specific department. Under Wrigley much decision making has been taken away from Officers, ...
Teignbridge District Council run by Dawlish NE Cllr Martin Wrigley and his Lib Dem majority and their Tory partners in Devon County are doubling down on opposition to their plans for Queen St, Newton Abbot - You know, the plans that traders and the people who actually live there are overwhelmingly opposed to - you may have seen it on the TV or read about it in our awful biased local rag. Well ...
https://www.middevonadvertiser.co.uk/news/council-accused-of-creating-perverts-charter-over-unisex-facilities-686489? Council accused of creating 'pervert's charter' over unisex facilities From the Mid Devon Advertiser 7th May TEIGNBRIDGE Council has been accused of creating a ‘pervert’s charter’ with its decision to introduce ‘village-style’ unisex changing rooms at one of its leisure ...
Dawlish NE Councillor Martin Wrigley, Leader of Teignbridge District Council and Teignbridge Liberal Democrats is already wasting tax payers money with his plans for Queen St Newton Abbot, against the will of local traders and residents. Now he and the Tory run County Council his administration is in league with will likely waste another £200,000 of public money in the courts. See the announcement ...
@1263 We might have had a Town Council by-election after J Petherick resigned, but as 10 or more electors didn't write to the Council submitting statutory requests for an election they'll just co-opt somebody. That's if anyone is actually interested in local politics, has any confidence in it and wants to serve on a Council dominated by Wrigley. Crime Commissioners are a waste of time, money and ...
A Jekyll and Hyde Party who are the market leaders in fake news. Worth bearing this article in mind if you bother voting later this year. https://novaramedia.com/2023/05/04/the-lib-dems-are-britains-worst-political-party/
Another conspiracy? Who are the conspirators?
Lib Dem Cllr Martin Wrigley has really increased the frequency of his social media posts as the election approaches. This one in particular is insulting to traders in Newton Abbot who face losing their livelihoods because of this man and his cabal in Teignbridge District Council and their disastrous decisions effecting Queen St, completely ignoring traders and residents views and concerns. ...
Cheap moral philosphizing from the man who wants to become our MP. The Leader of Teignbridge District Council which has regularly appeared in Private Eye's Rotten Borough. The man who offered his support to Cllr Gary Taylor and who failed to condemn his co-Cllr's violent misconduct in Council chambers. The man who continues to ignore residents and traders in Newton Abbot over the Queen St disaster ...
The inquest is taking an awfully long time. The press have reported ill mental health, which wouldn't be surprising for a young girl and the trauma of war-torn Ukraine, being made a refugee, coming to a strange country, etc. Then reports that Mother and daughter were happy and settling well here, then reports of a cardiac arrest, no suspicious activity based on her phone, CCTV footage, etc and ...
Lib Dem voters in Dawlish really ned to reflect on who they elect as Councillors. Dawlish NE Councillor and Cockwood resident Martin Wrigley, who since May 2023 has been Leader of Teignbridge District Council continues his anti-democratic campaign of misinformation forcing changes on Newton Abbot's Queen St, that the vast majority of residents and traders do not want. On Tues 27th February at ...
Dawlish Town Council propose a Market in the town, or at least a trial. They require residents and traders to complete surveys but mention there is limited time. If you're aware of the controversial Queen St, Newton Abbot changes planned by Teignbridge District Council that face overwhelming opposition from local people and traders who were furious with the sham consulation that ignores their ...
@Ziggy Well done, that's fantastic. Thank you for the link. Your update also resulted in the deletion of your opening line, after I'd pointed it out; "We need your help! We need your views!" It's clear you're a Councillor. It's clear which one in particular. You don't want to discuss my reply to this topic you've posted in the Discussion section then? Or any replies to any topic it ...
Were you aware that Dawlish Town Council has Town Councillor Surgeries? Every 2 weeks - Saturdays 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. In 4 different locations; Dawlish Library Holcombe Village Hall, Cockwood Village Hall St Mary’s Hall Dawlish Warren It is a “...surgery system, similar to those operated by many MPs, where any concerns within the parish may be raised.” and “Councillors will be on ...
@Ziggy if you don't want to discuss the Manor Gardens bridge why don't you post your news item and updates in the News section? And please reference the quote (the paper or website, etc), otherwise why should anyone believe this quote was from Cllr Dawson? Why can't the bridge be constructed from wood? It is a renewable resource, cheaper than metal and it only has to bear the weight of ...
It's not FREE in any case. The agencies aren't working at this event out of the kindness of their hearts, they're all funded by the taxpayer. And collectively these agencies and Councils aren't improving the situation. The funding just keeps them all in work and contributes to their pensions. So kind that all these agencies can club together for a slow cooker, air-fryer and electric blanket. ...
@Cassandra Could you expand on that? This is the discussion section after all. I don't know if you read the original post or looked at the link, but Expat's comment is accurate. Dawlish was an elegant seaside resort in Georgian and Victorian times - mainly due to three men who by the way weren't from the town. Given that it was originally a small fishing village, a lot of people would've moved ...
@Carer I don't really expect any Lib Dem Councillors or voters/supporters to comment. But it is worthwhile bringing attention to the fact that won't ever engage in debate about their severley suspect administration in Teignbridge District Council and highlighting their many failings. Whether in Council Chambers where they deny opposition motions or with the public in person or online. There are ...
@1263 Agreed they're all just establishment 'yes' men and 'yes' women, mainly men of a certain age bracket, class and dominated by their own egos. I'm all for Independents, but not the likes of Independent Voices for Dawlish (at least the 2023 version) who were basically organized by two disaffected Lib Dems and offered nothing different to the Lib Dems and Tories.
@1263 This year in particular. He wants to become MP full stop. Where and representing whom probably doesn't matter at all.
@1263 Yes, it's pretty feudal. Maybe a Director or two does an hour here or there, but judging from the website the sessions are predominantly delivered by unpaid workers. They don't even pay the Ukrainian translator who's an 'ad-hoc' volunteer, that's a highly skilled role. https://rootscommunityenhancement.org/about-us Nowadays the core work of charities and social entreprises increasingly ...
There's no difference betweenthe Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats, ideologically we live in a one-party state. It's Neoliberalist whichever candidate you vote for; they're all puppets of corporate interest and the establishment. We need politicians with integrity, backbone and leadership attributes; who stand up for local people struggling to make ends meet and who put our ...
If anyone on here wishes to 'engage' in the topic in the OP. Namely, Local Rag shamelessly regurgitates Liberal Democrat Spin and Misinformation... then I'm all for open disussion. The Lib Dem Facebook page in question can be viewed without being a facebook user as can any Facebook page.
