The sea will always win. The line should avoid Dawlish coast and have a Parkway on the other side of town.
wondering's Posts
Close the line yes Leatash... from Dawlish to Teignmouth, build the inland line to Newton and then to the branch line to Teignmouth, .
There needs to be a line that avoids the sea ...its obvious! .. C5 seems the best plan and less expensive.. All the fuse recently about global warming .....you cant beat the sea, or can you?.
Should still be an alternative route away from the sea somewhere!
I know the board doesn't seem to like positive posts much.. .but if you have not heard, from the December timetable the local service from Paignton to Exmouth thats callis at Dawlish will be increased to every 30 minutes and hourly Sundays. Many extra faster journeys to Paddington too.. https://www.gwr.com/plan-journey/timetable-2019
He is not up to being a PM ..so he is putting off Election ...but he wont win anyway ..people have more sense. Though I suspect the first time voters think he is wonderful, they fell for the Student freebie and him at Glastonbury.... which was enough for them to love him lol.
Well 2B goes through Marsh Barton Industrial Estate where Matalan etc is and up Exeter Fore Street, so you can get off at old BHS or HIgh Street. It's in addition to the Service 2 every 30 minutes ..of course it will pick up people Exeter bound if the 2 is running late! from Newton...2b is usually on time by starting at Dawlish at 43 mins pass the hour. Timetable here > ...
If he doesnt get to be Labour Leader again ...I bet he is after the job at EU,
Line needs to be inland 'Dawlish Parkway' ..it is not rocket science the sea will always win.
France would vote leave EU ...why pay EU so much money! https://news.sky.com/story/emmanuel-macron-french-would-probably-vote-to-leave-eu-11216872
Go have a look at Exmouth, East Devon.....trains every half hour to Exeter takes 30 minutes and buses every 15 minutes in the day, last buses 2315 ... Exmouth has a busy town, shops and indoor market, new ten pin bowling centre, leisure centre at rail station. . Popular beach (peaceful) and Sandy Bay. You can go over the ferrry to Starcross for a trip to Dawlsih. ...
Leatash 'you took the words out of my mouth' lol
We can make our own rules ...why not?..we used to. Why should EU tell is what to do all the time. Maybe UK are just not capable of making decisions in 2018.
All the first time voters will think twice when the EU form the' EU Army' ..they will be called to serve anywhere the EU say.
Get out of EU spend the billions 'here' not there! ..they will soon creep to us if we walk away. Romoaners wont be happy though as they so wanted to be conscribted into the EU Army! (ew thats gone small!)
Italy next to leave EU ..its a failed set up. http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb/betting/e/9537370/Next Country To Leave EU (without United Kingdom).html
JC not doing too well and Tony Blair is back and ready to take over... or to be leader of EU.. and this from a Labour paper... https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/15/jeremy-corbyn-slides-in-approval-ratings-in-spite-of-tory-schisms
Most buy from Amazon at the cost to the High Street. So many people in the shops right now its easier to have it arrve at the door! Anyonw who thinks its a good idea to open a shop now must be bonkers! Having said that if everyone stopped buying online the shops would be booming! and Amazon would be finished.
Not exactly end of the world to do that lol...
Why the heck don't they just give up on the line by the sea! ...get building Dawlish Parkway other side of town...or build a tunnell between the town and sea.. do you want a blocked view of sea and get town protected?.. I don;t think the town is that bothered on a rail service really..
Will have to stop the line at Dawlish Warren for Dawlish. Chucking money at the wall to be washed away is crazy. Open an inland line to Newton and yes Okehampton- Plymouth makes sense.
I recall someone suggesting the Lawn should be a store like Waitrose with parking on the roof ..that would bring people to the town and could be a saviour to the small shops...as parking would be free!. Having said that I guess you cant build on the lawn becasue of sea level issues.
So there is no answer to it then ..just wait until the line is totally washed away. Line westwards would end at Dawlish Warren for Dawlish. Best get the Okehampon line open to get to Plymouth and Cornwall.
One day someone will come with an idea of putting the line inland away from the sea ....Dawlish Parkway!
GWR didn't run when the line collapsed into the sea!
That has to be so sad!
I wish the remainers would just move over there and stay there!! . they would soon be back when they miss the benefits!
Sooner were out of the controlling EU the better!
Agree ..and if everyone stopped buying from Amazon and Ebay and go the shops... a difference it will make..but it will never ha[ppen.
I wish the Remoaners who love EU so much would just move over there and leave is in peace! The vote was OUT ...get over it!
Bradleys coudnt find my house in Dawlish to value it..no wonder they have gone! I used an Exeter agent for 1% and it was listed on 'Right move' and the deal was that i would do the viewings, save them coming out. ...i didnt want an agent simply saying 'this is the ktchen' etc lol .. Sold it in a week.
They are little odd in Totnes! ..people still cant accept the result.
Rail line had to be closed ..one day someone will dream up an idea of running a line from Plymouth - Okehampton- Exeter.
see no point in a shop..when everyone seems attached to their mobile and buying from Amazon. Coffee shops is only think people want.
Brexit means Brexit ..anyone who loves EU go live there!
It has to avoid Dawlish you cant keep chucking money at it ...needs to be a reliable line at the moment it is not.. this weekend is the last straw for many..
Build a wall call Trump!
Well it costs £10 to go just 3 miles ...so says it all really... have a look at this fare guide, put some places in, maybe handy to someone https://yourtaximeter.com/
It is illegal to park a car on a foot pavememt ..but never enforced. If you're pushing a wheelchair or a pram its a pain to come off the kerb and go in the road around a car and back up the kerb.
