Just watched Sunday morning Polotics show and they explained the government bases decisions on the actual walk through numbers at man line stations, Bristol is 11 million and in Plymouth 2 million ,guess ,thats why south west is not that important to them. Looks like at the moment all they will do is keep on just making good and patching up the line,
This is good to watch http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/Player.aspx?meetingId=14953
Re those Hotels ..not surprised. Talk to any teenager and they say they are going abroad on holiday .dont ask where they get the money! Lynne you are right everyone has now heard of Dawlish and plenty will want to come and look. Yep so much 'doom and gloom' ..in town, but Dawlish does that best... could be a good name for that pub lol
Strange they dont run from Teignmouth - Paignton now, very odd, Whatever they decide Teignmouth should still be safe in having a train even if it starts there towards Newton..
Thank you Lynne.. meanwhile up there in North Devon >>>Libs have a petition... http://www.campaigns.libdems.org.uk/NorthCornwallRailways all this reminds me of the old Britsh Rail advert ..'This is the age of the train' ...and the one ...'We're getting there!' lol.
Travel from Exeter at 5.30 when its a two carriage train and standing ...the guard cant get through the train (or rather keep out the way!) to take fares from unmanned and no ticket machine stations. So re receipts ..they could be getting far more cash than they do! So many people jump on at between, St Thomas, Starcross and Dawlish Warren and do not pay. In the days of Beeching and BR ...
SWT (Stagecoach) run the Salisbury - Waterloo line on an hourly basis and you know that every hour there is a train from Exeter at 25 pass each hour. No need to search the timetables. There is a 35 minute turn around at Exeter so its reliable, every time I have been on it to get to south coast its been on time. A few years ago it was a two hourly service. I've never used Trainline as I believe ...
Thats better .. I was thinking if you include Salcombe you must think of population in North Cornwall, Bude, etc ., for the Dartmoor line.
Benefits discussion was a good debate on Ch 4. ...anyway....that will keep R busy searching for a link to counter that and just paste in a web link with no comment to support it. luv it! .
Ok..think including the population in South Hams. Kingsbridge and Salcombe is pushing it a bit. Plymouth is around 250,000 so you can understand to be fair why people there are desperate for a train going ..... any route!
