This is a sad time, the end of HSTs and the introduction of more uncomfortable, overcrowded inferior trains similar to the Crosscountry trains.
Let's hope the people of Dawlish speak up and speak out and save the lawn from the ********* in power at the moment. Why do they feel the need to simply copy what other towns have done without any thought to the appropriateness to Dawlish?

@From The Grave , when i was teaching in an inner city area in the 80s the then labour run council issued instructions to all schools not to refer to blackboards, they were to be called chalk boards, as blackboard was racially offensive!
Perhaps someone could request this issue be an agenda item at the next full town council meeting. Publicise the fact it is on the agenda to get as many people to attend as possible in order to put their views forward at the meeting. As this is effectively blocking the footpath contact Councillor Alison Foden, Chair of the civic amenities committee, and ask her to deal with the issue. Footpaths come under the civic amenities committee.
It is for the cyclists to wheel their bikes up or down the very steep incline. They have one in Bideford on the Tarka trail but very few cyclists use it as it is very difficult to wheel your bike and keep control of it down such a steep gulley - I know as I have tried but only once!
