The project for that end of the sea wall is completely over the top! They are creating a concrete jungle which will destroy the look and ambience of the whole area. The stretch of sea wall that went down in 2014 has been rebuilt and is resiliant and they don't really need to do much more. But, having been given a zillion pound budget from Goverment, of course they will spend it on needless restructuring and in the process ruin Dawlish forever!

It doesn't matter if local planning says NO. This project is backed by the government and if it goes all the way to appeal to the top for a decision to go forward. You can bet your bottom dollar it will be built.

Slowly the people of the UK are realising their freedoms and rights are being severely eroded just like our coast line.

Network Rail are only trying to pull the wool over the publics eyes by asking local and district councils for planning consent. They dont need it, its just a publicity exercise. They are financed and planning approved by national government they can basically do what they want with Dawlish station and the sea wall and this right dosent just apply to Dawlish. We have a traditional old and lovely station at Teignmouth, so why not let them demolish the run down, scruffy, not fit for purpose station at Dawlish and lets have a new modern easily maintained replacement including the removal of the rusting decripid viaduct that people are always banging on about painting. Go one step further and lets have a new station as part of a marina with water sport facilities, new retail outlets etc and lets give that bottom end of town a totally new look.

Thank god for that. The whole area is an eyesore and you lot are always moaning about keeping the rail open and now that work is being given the go ahead, what do you lot do? MOAN ABOUT IT!

Get your heads out of your backsides and look forward to a MUCH better future for this town, with a station and area that we can be proud of, NOT ashamed of.
