There's a rather scathing letter in the Gazette about the pricing at the Co-Op, claiming that they use price banding depending upon the location of the branch. Dawlish being in the most expensive band and Teignmouth in the cheapest band. Does anyone know if there's any basis or truth in this? I've done a Google search and can find no reference to this alleged price banding.

Pleased to see from their Facebook page that Too Delicious have been re-assessed, and now have a 5 Star food hygiene rating.

I see that the council have put up two notices outside the Sunburnt Arms regarding a review of their premises licence. The first notice is about 'noise and exceeding terminal hours', whilst the second one put up yesterday is because 'a senior police officer is satisfied that the premises are associated with serious crime'. A friend told me that police were crawling all over the place during a raid ...

Anyone on here know whether there is any intention to clear the green slime from the brook/stream/Daw? Nobody bothered to clear it until far too late last summer; in my opinion pre-emptive action needs to be taken. Of course I would be happy to offer my services as a volunteer.

I applaud people who have balls to expose wrongdoings - you have the right to be anonymous, why though is beyond me seeing as you are clearly so passionate about your cause. Have the authorities acted beyond the law in this particular case. Like I say, my sympathies are with the residents.

Thanks Lynne. I'm sure that the people who benefit from this Devon-based charity will not worry whether or not it is located in Newton Abbot. And I'm also sure that Dawlish people are pleased to have a free collection service that is for a good cause.

It was good to see the latest two cygnets being cared for in the bird pen today. That's four this year that should grow to adulthood and grace our town for years to come.

Completely agree with JW. Was good to see again this morning that comb-over man from the council was clearing some of the flotsam at Red Rock Beach. Top man. Pity about the cafe owners disinterest though.

I hope that there's a big turnout for the IVFD tomorrow. The desire for change is evident throughout the town - let's hope that those who are always moaning manage to get off their backsides and vote for an independent-thinking candidate. Seagulls are a problem everywhere. I was sat on the perimeter wall around Exeter Cathedral on Good Friday when a seagull swooped and snatched food out of the hand of a lady sat next to me. Shit happens, it won't stop me from sitting there again! Seagulls have always been a pain - it's not a recent phenomenon! :-)

I'm not faceless. I use my name on here. Would be happy to meet as a group but don't see why it should be at the Manor as their are plenty other more suitable venues. Any prospective candidate will only get support if they explain what they intend to DO. You miss the point completely - it's not about your political views!!

Thanks for the replies everyone. As newcomers it would be great to take part in an organised effort to clear the beaches - most of the detritus is washed up, to be fair - however we'd be happy to go it alone. We're proud of where we live and hope to never take it for granted. :-)

Good point, however I'd rather be governed at a local level by local people who understand the local issues. As long as they have a fair and equitable budget to work with. And as long as they are representative of all sections of our local society. At our level, I believe that all Borough councillors should independents, however I appreciate that there are too many vested interests to allow that ...

Are you going to include a policy proposal about this very important matter in your forthcoming manifesto?
