but.....the Tories are now in overall control.

Dawlish Central & North East Ward (3 seats) returned Ted Hockin and Graham Price. Geoff Wills was not elected (came 5th I think). Third was the Independent candidate and fourth was the other independent candidate.

Dawlish South West (two seats) returned........Humphrey Clemens and Rosalind Prowse.

@Lynne

Yes, John Petherick was elected as an Independent for one of the District Council seats to represent Dawlish Central & North East.

For the Town Council all ten Independent Voices for Dawlish (IVFD) candidates were elected (100% result) and the Town Council will now be made up of IVFD 10 seats, Conservatives 6 seats. No Lib Dems or Green Party candidates were successful.

Details of results and poll figures will be appearing (may have already) on the Teignbridge DC website, and will in time be posted at the entrance to the Manor House.

The IVFD councillors-elect are very aware of the trust put in them by the electors of Dawlish and thank all those who helped in their campaign by voting for them or in other ways.

Congratulatons to you and to all the other IVFD candidates.

As I can't find anything on TDC's website concerning the Dawlish Town Council results can you tell us please who the Conservative councillors are.

A great day all round. No longer will anyone be held to party whip. People can now put Dawlish first rather than their parties or political careers.

Well done all

What a brilliant result for local democracy! Well done to all 10 IVFD councillors - now you can deliver positive and constructive changes for the good of EVERYONE in Dawlish and make sure that the years of self-interest and neglect by the ConDems are turned around. To whom should I send my CV for the forthcoming vacancy as Town Clerk? ;-)

I'm absolutely thrilled, congratulations to all the IVFD'ers! Looking forward to some common sense in Dawlish now :)

How will this now work in relation to the Town Clerk. Can the independant majority now replace him free of charge to the tax payer or are they going to have to fork out many thousands to pay him off. As I understand it in a redundancy issue its the job not the person that becomes redundant. Therefore can the town council manage without a town clerk

I was being facetious about Mr Winchester's official position... ;-) Good luck to the new IVFD councillors - I hope that they talk with the citizens they represent - rather than talk down to them as a lot of the self-proclaimed elite in this town have a habit of doing. Welcome to the 21st century, Dawlishians!!!!
