That is the question.

But. Can anyone explain to me why the Conservatives elect their leader using AV and yet are so furiously canvassing for people to reject it?

If they didn't use AV David Cameron wouldn't be their leader.

Perplexed

A point about the tory leadership election system that I pointed out to someone but this very morning.

I shall be voting Yes to AV tomorrow. Here are some reasons why.

I'll be voting Yes. Seems the majority of MP's will be voting No, Perhaps they are trying to protect themselves from answering to the electorate.

Yes to AV. I'd the BNP are against it, then it must be a good thing...

"if they didn't use AV David Cameron wouldn't be their leader" (see Vanguard's post).

P'raps that's why they (the tories) are so against AV now?

Who would have won the Tory leadership contest if it had been run under the First Past The Post system? David Davies?

Please can a Conservative supporter/member explain why it is perfectly okay to elect the tory leader using an exhaustive ballot procedure but it is not okay for a very similar procedure (AV) to be used to elect our MPs.
