I see our Devon County Councillor J Clatworthy claimed £31,155.40. Cllr P Prowse didnt claim a penny, but the Express & Echo said he claimed £7.00 he was furious.

And what exactlt does he do to earn this money? a lot of people in Dawlish would like to be on half that amount!!!!!! Well done Cllr P. Prowse as it used to be, serve the people not for what you can get out of them

I saw that article in the week too. Whilst its absolutely disgraceful that Clatworthy is allowed to claim such a high allowance, I personally have no beef with anyone who is reimbursed legitimate expenses. I wonder though how his allowance compares with the cost to taxpayers of FOI requests? Anyone know?

Sounds like you would prefer to see the FOI banned/unlawful, how do you think most of the newpapers get their information. is that just a personal pop at me? or do you include the thousands of the public nationwide who find it useful

Just a general question really. In these austere times, I'm sure you'll agree that it's important that money isn't wasted and that value for money is achieved in all areas of society. Not that I'm one to labour a point, but do you know how much FOI requests costs us taxpayers? If not, fair does.

I cant give you an exact cost, but they do have a time limit and if to put together the files/papferwork etc; the request exceeds a certain time limit then the cost is £25 per hour

No problem, the cost - as I dont think i made it clear - the £25 per hour would have to be paid by the person who requested the information.
