This is a short version of a long video showing Euro MPs signing in on Friday morning at 7am with their suitcases they then go home for the weekend. They have to sign in to get their daily allowance which I believe is around £200. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AY03ro0Y14 At the other end of the weekend apparently most meetings are arranged only between Tues and Thursday so they can return ...

The only people who know what Cofton needs are the owners, they are clearly not going to invest many thousands of pounds into developments that customers don't want. More space and facilities were clearly needed as the previous posts say, being overcrowded is not good for repeat business.
I'm amused by being 'pleased' that big supermarkets like the Co-op are supporting this. The Co-op were pioneers in Fairtrade and have been big sellers of such products since Fairtrade started in 1992 and Sainsburys claim to be the World's Largest Fairtrade retailer having also been involved since day one.
Yep, but that was recently, nothing to do with the time that Stokes opened in Dawlish and Teignmouth, at that time Stokes were a big group with 92 stores and a Head Office in Bristol.
The Wee Shoppe get their stock delivered from their bakery in Teignmouth every morning so they just sell what is delivered every day as packed, am sure the thought of doing something different is completely alien. Pity, as that is normally the reason most people go to a small shop. I once wanted to place a regular order for a large quantity of scones and tried to order from their Bakery in ...
Coryton Close is fine but very difficult to find a space there days that's why I didn't suggest it, and if you want to be near the station it's just a couple of minutes walk from the Teignmouth Hill end of Westcliff Road. I am pleased to see that vehicle checks are carried out more than we realise, have seen two cars clamped for no Tax in Westcliff Road recently, the owners probably thought it ...
You're quire right Lynne, that's why I made the comment, these anti-Builder, anti-Council, anti-Sainsburys etc rants have nothing to do with the price of eggs, oops, sorry, now we'll have people complaining about the price of eggs since Sainsburys moved to Dawlish.
OK, Nelson, I am going to shoot myself in the foot now, a very interesting read is the Revenge of Gaia, by James Lovelock. Gaia is an 'old' god but basically Nature, the point being is that Nature will take revenge on Man, quite passively by the problems we are beginning to see due to Climate change, due, in some part to our behaviour. I do find it difficult to refute the arguments and research of ...
Yes Nelson, Street parking is run by Devon County Council and the Car Parks by Teignbridge. The free Sunday parking is offered by Teignbridge, ie Car Parks but street parking is still chargeable. You can park at anytime 24/7 with a blue badge in the street (controlled by DCC) but need a permit from the TDC if you want to park for free in the carparks, that is quite silly. Actually free street ...
The council can't reduce rents unless they own the shops, I don't know if any shop premises in Dawlish are council owned, probably all are privately owned. Business rates were increased quite dramatically by Teignbridge Council last year even though domestic rates stayed the same, business rates were reduced by a govt initiative based on rateable value. Premises rated at less than £5k were rates ...
Many thanks, indeed it is very difficult to keep on top of such stuff.
I think in the space available they have a very good range of products. They are good at opening more checkouts when they see queues forming, so generally service is very good. I know several people who said they would never shop there as they would only support local shops in Dawlish, however, I have seen them at ALL at Sainsburys and they admit plenty of parking and being able to buy ...
I use the re-cycling bins off Exeter road, on the path to Coastguard Cottages, and noticed today that most of the bins on this site have been padlocked, does anyone know why??
Yes Brazilnut, you are quite right, comparing a high street which has major stores like Waterstones, W H Smith and various clothing stores with Dawlish is nonsense, there are no stores to attract anyone. If you take away parking in the Strand it will be deserted. Also agree parking is badly organised and must be more restriced to allow better access for buses amd large vehicles to get through.
In other words absolutely nothing is going to happen as per all the 'plans' and promises of many previous years. Never mind, am sure we will have another survey next year. We can't even have a Tesco for Dawlish, I think the town will be closed in another few years.
About time we had a local Tesco and Sainsburys, costing too much in petrol to travel to Newton Abbot these days, as we are having Sainsburys it will make no difference if we also have Tesco, so let's hope for us customers we do get a choice of both. Be nice if we also had a Lidl nearby.
