Whilst some people of India are in total poverty why do we give any aid to this

country when they prefer to send rockets to Mars.

Some one is taking the P--s

They have also in recent months had a new Aircraft Carrier built and stocked with French jets in my humble opinion we shouldnt give them a red cent.

Perhaps the aid is only to be used for certain causes such as poverty.

Paul i think you are missing the point if a country like India can afford to send a probe to Mars and spend billions on hi teck weaponry why should we give aid. Maybe the Indian goverment should use those billions to help those who are in poverty or am i missing something.

How can our country with a national debt equal to £30,000 for every adult living here afford to give financial aid to any other country. Great Britain isent to great at the moment its bankrupt and thats a fact, regardless of what the government says.

All true, India should spend it's own money helping the poor but they don't seem to do so.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/9666249/Britains-280-million-aid-to-India-will-be-scrapped.html

So aid to India is being stopped in 2015, but the money will be deverted to other poorer countries. We can't just keep the money since we have to stick to the 0.7% of gdp target for aid.

But why do so much, why try to make ourselves look great when we are a debt ridden country?

Why give away £11B but at the same time lay off our Soldiers, our Police and others?

A similar related question - Why spend £9B for people to run round in circles?

I misunderstood, I thought the Indian Space Programme was sending Indians to the UK to make more Space in India.

The money given by the British Governemnt to India and other up and coming countries with vast mineral and other reserves is not for the poor, but to make sure that the British Governemnt gets a slice of what ever these countries are producing. Such as oil maintenance contracts and other such lucrative contracts abroad.
