Pity we can't export the natural asset this country is most renowned for - rain water.

Haven't there been droughts in some of the corn growing areas of N. America and Russia of late? They've not had rain water, we've got too much.  Low yield of corn = higher food prices.

Just think how good this country's economy might be if only we could export our rain.

Do we sell in US Dollars or GBP, might be that we have something more valuable than oil. After all motor manufacturers are working on ways to power cars from water.

If we have so much why are our water bills so high?

why do we have hose pipe bans every year?

maybe the inventers in our country could come up with good ideas on how to use it.

You only have too look at the parent company saying that it s committed to increasing dividends by 4% above the rate of inflation to know that we the customers are going to pay more Revenue up by 5.6% profits up by 6.4%.

Anyone can collect and sell rain water if they want.

Water companies charge you for supplying water treated with chlorine and for handling sewage.

In fact everyone should just stop paying for it as they cannot even cut you off. It should be supplied by the government as part of their job of providing the infrastructure for society.

Also bottled water = total rip off.

Just think about the costs of the following:

500ml of water

500ml of milk

500ml of coca cola

500ml of diesel

They are arse about face because people are brainwashed by TV and branding, water and coca cola being double the cost of diesel and milk.

The answer to the above per 500ml is:

Water   4,5p

Milk     12,5p

Coke   34p

Diesel  34p

Based on shopping at ASDA, diesel price very variable and why anyone would buy a bottle of water has always been beyond my comprehension.

Diesel is an essential for some people, certainly no reason to complain about the price of milk, and I think coke not necessary to sustain life.

@Paul. your so right about sww not being able to cut you off for not paying, however we have a legal system that favours big companies like them and what they do is take you to court and obtain a charging order against your property. you also get a ccj against your name, so either way they win every time. all utility companies should be government controlled with no shareholders and non-profit making. the fat cats are holding this country to ransom

the price of water does vary a lot @wriggler but i am not sure you have your prices correct. 34p is very cheap for diesel.

Typical fuel stations prices are more like (per 500ml):

Coke - £1.20
Water - £1.00
Diesel - 71p
Milk - 50p
