Yeh, and what a bloody mess they made choosing the York stone as it is porous and has now started to look like the old grey concrete slabs that were there before. There are more pressing things the money could have been constructively used for in Dawlish then grubby poorly fitted slabs. @Paul - i think you will find in most breeds the attitude of the dog, however evil you think it may look, is usually attributed to the way it is treated as it grow up. a bit like humans. would you also condone putting down any humans who you thought looked evil. i'm sure in the eyes of their owner they are not seen in that light.

Just as well the TDC isn't a Bakery, cause if it was everything coming out would be half baked!

@SoulofDawlish - i wonder what they mean by 'the bridges must be high enough for electrification'. does that mean that if there are tunnels on the route, they would also have to be enlarged! I noticed this 'Planning underway to electrify Bath's railway'. This will be completed long before any electrification happens down here, if ever. ...

@flo - i think he means low impact to them, because all they do is destroy natural beauty spots and leave tons of junk strewn around for the taxpayer to cover the cost of the cleanup and the legal cost of having them moved on. i may be wrong though!

The more homes the site is capable of supporting, the smoother the planning request will be, even if it's pure fiction. Does the planning dept have a chart/body who verifies these claims?  Governments have been doing stat's manipulation for decades to their advantage.

Young of today, old of tomorrow. The youth of today needs to seriously think about the decisions they allow their government to adopt today. Because tomorrow it is likely to bite them in the rear. It is to often that the young don't have any comprehension that all the old people walking around today were the children of decades gone by, scarey thought.

@Mrs C - from your above comment are you implying that the car park would be free to park in? I think not. How would you control the number of vehicles parking there and not using waitrose to shop in?  It is probable that the car park will be pay and display and with a minimum spend of £10 to get free parking for the 1 1/2 hour limit. I may be wrong, but it certainly won't be free.

The problem of Dawlish and the sea wall is the lack of regular, quality maintenance. It's not like the people of Dawlish don't pay through the nose via the rates. At the very least a meeting  should be arranged by the councillors to allow the people of Dawlish to ask questions directly to these representatives of our local council and get clear and concise answers. @wriggler -interesting info. i was curious as to where the massive amounts of toxic liquid used as the medium for fracking eventually ends up?  it obviously doesn't all go back to the surface to be safely disposed of, or does it?
