Yeh, and what a bloody mess they made choosing the York stone as it is porous and has now started to look like the old grey concrete slabs that were there before. There are more pressing things the money could have been constructively used for in Dawlish then grubby poorly fitted slabs. An entire Summer when the retailers lost revenue because people could not park along the Strand, blah, blah, ...

@Paul - i think you will find in most breeds the attitude of the dog, however evil you think it may look, is usually attributed to the way it is treated as it grow up. a bit like humans. would you also condone putting down any humans who you thought looked evil. i'm sure in the eyes of their owner they are not seen in that light.
Just as well the TDC isn't a Bakery, cause if it was everything coming out would be half baked!
@SoulofDawlish - i wonder what they mean by 'the bridges must be high enough for electrification'. does that mean that if there are tunnels on the route, they would also have to be enlarged! I noticed this 'Planning underway to electrify Bath's railway'. This will be completed long before any electrification happens down here, if ever. ...
@roberta - thanks for the update.
Fairly heavy wind and rain last night. Looking forward to tonight, not.
@flo - i think he means low impact to them, because all they do is destroy natural beauty spots and leave tons of junk strewn around for the taxpayer to cover the cost of the cleanup and the legal cost of having them moved on. i may be wrong though!
Thanks Kaz for the link, interesting read. Dawlish seemed a much prouder town in days gone by, shame.
@JC - No need to thank me, although accepted.
@DJ - you put forward a good arguement, but the only things going down are the council costs and the services we have paid for in dawlish, through high rates.
Here's the link from Youtube.
Is this the area opposite East Cliff Road?
What a lot of old tosh ' Counterfeiting is illegal and takes custom away from legitimate local traders'. 1)what local traders sell Raybans and Rolex watches!, 2) they advertised the items as replicas, 3) How a tiny fraction of the cost of the real thing is denting the pockets of the genuine manufacturers. What trading standards need todo is pull their finger out and sort out all the dodgey cowboy ...
It brought a smile to my face this afternoon when I read the title of this post and the person who had created it. Thankyou JC for brightening up my day.
@JC - presumably Judith Chalmers you're just an annoying troll.
@Lynne - same thing happened in harrow, wealdstone around 15 years ago. 2 semi's were converted into a childrens home. this was in a quite back street amongst other residential homes. both properties had sizeable back gardens. which when combined formed a very large play area for the rugrats. only thing is they always played on the street/road rather than the back garden. i don't know many people ...

Anyone know if the seating is to be reinstated?
As before those in power will take no heed of the impending disasters as they lavish in their spoils and castles. In the false assumption that they are protected from the masses by their own arrogance! Thanks for posting the link Lynne.
Happened to come across this vid on youtube of the barge and crane being moved from the docks at Teignmouth to its current resting position at Dawlish. Filmed using a quad/hex copter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIZpaCjpaEU&feature=player_detailpage&list=UUk3I2Dq2shm5ndRZfJQfUvA
Thanks for letting me know. Great news you found it.
You can't rework the UK link with the EU just because you don't like the deal our incomptent politicians agreed to. It is a Union and changes require all member states to participate in a change, don't they?
Every party has promised drastic reductions in the benefits handout, but as soon as they get voted in they forget all about it until the next general election. I believe that the benefit system is a great idea, if it were run ethically and with competence, but there is little chance of that. For every genuine claim there are many more from those who should never be given the time of day. There are ...

What's stopping them from retrofitting devices to stop water ingress. What century are we in!

Seen on the way to Coryton Cove last night, by the railway tunnel.
You may find this site of interest in possibly answering your question. http://www.allaboutmigration.com/about-brent-geese/
The more homes the site is capable of supporting, the smoother the planning request will be, even if it's pure fiction. Does the planning dept have a chart/body who verifies these claims? Governments have been doing stat's manipulation for decades to their advantage.
Marvellous airshow this year. Thanks and appreciation to all those who put in the hard work to make it possibe. A pic of a Red Arrow, taken from my lounge balcony.
Get the local paper to run a story on this and we might just get a few extra visitors!
@warrior - don't bother holding your breath.
Why not just stop all benefits? There problem solved. Now the government will have more money to waste on white elephants and themselves!
Young of today, old of tomorrow. The youth of today needs to seriously think about the decisions they allow their government to adopt today. Because tomorrow it is likely to bite them in the rear. It is to often that the young don't have any comprehension that all the old people walking around today were the children of decades gone by, scarey thought.
@warrior - i can only give my own opinion. in an ideal world were everyone helps each other rather than themselves and there is no criminality. the e.u mandates would be good. although the world is made up of a mix of humans, some who are kind and giving, those who wish to be left alone and then there are the predators. predators being criminals, multi nationals and certain governmentswho feed of ...
@Mrs C - from your above comment are you implying that the car park would be free to park in? I think not. How would you control the number of vehicles parking there and not using waitrose to shop in? It is probable that the car park will be pay and display and with a minimum spend of £10 to get free parking for the 1 1/2 hour limit. I may be wrong, but it certainly won't be free.
The problem of Dawlish and the sea wall is the lack of regular, quality maintenance. It's not like the people of Dawlish don't pay through the nose via the rates. At the very least a meeting should be arranged by the councillors to allow the people of Dawlish to ask questions directly to these representatives of our local council and get clear and concise answers. The Manor house might be a ...
@wriggler -interesting info. i was curious as to where the massive amounts of toxic liquid used as the medium for fracking eventually ends up? it obviously doesn't all go back to the surface to be safely disposed of, or does it? Over 20 states in the U.S has banned fracking. France has banned fracking. Trust are puppets in power to say yes to short term financial gain. U.K. independant power ...
