How is it the new site at will not get used by and why was it built for people that don't contribute to the T.D.C,. coffer's.
What waste of money and who as the Tw-T that thought it up?
If so, the £1million came from government.
Still a lot if money, but at least paid by taxpayers across the Uk, not just in Teignbridge.
I assume the year round warden costing £26k is to be paid from the payments received from the leases etc being paid by the travellers on the site!
Damian le Bas, editor of Travellers Times, who has met and worked with people at Haldon, said the new site was “not fit” for new age travellers, many of whom work as travelling showpeople.
He said it’s design – hard standing and wash blocks - ignored the “political or cultural aspect to the way of life” followed by the group, who like to live in a low impact way, often in woods, converting vans or horse boxes and using compost toilets.
Low impact? He's having a laugh isn't he?
@flo - i think he means low impact to them, because all they do is destroy natural beauty spots and leave tons of junk strewn around for the taxpayer to cover the cost of the cleanup and the legal cost of having them moved on. i may be wrong though!
Sorry about being not specific and yes i was talking about Haldon. Mr Clayson comments that the money was paid by English taxpayers well thats alright
then, because trying for some people to get any benefits from Teignbridge or any other agency is damn near impossible.
As for Flo's quote from Damian le Bas the fitting of gold taps may be more in keeping. You just couldn't make it up.
Oh yes you can.
