The old Woolies shop still has a sign on it saying 'Shop To Let'; so we can conclude that nothing is happening with the place.

People with cars can drive to Sainsbury's for their shopping, so there is no need for cars down the strand. Pedestrianising The Strand will modernise the town which definitely needs improving.
We currently have too many layers of governance. • Westminster • South West Regional Assembly • Devon County Council • Teignbridge District Council • Dawlish Town Council • Town Wards This is definitely a waste of time and money, the system needs restructuring.
It obviously would be nice to have more than one supermarket as we could choose where to shop. People that want to shop in town can, people that want to shop at a supermarket can. What have the little shops got to do with this?
It is an eyesore and takes up several places in the car park. Yeah, knock it down.
The Lansdowne and the White Hart are also for sale. The Anchor at Cockwood is closing. Not surpirsing as most pubs are empty most of the time. Simply supply and demand.
Since the big freeze caused many roads to pothole, have you seen anyone carrying out repairs?
Has anyone else noticed that the trains are not being cleaned now? The train I was on this morning (which broke down incidentally) stank like an old damp disused property. I'm not sure I should buy a season ticket anymore.
Shame about any job loses but coop sell fruit and veg, just down the road.
Yeah Harrisons is an absolute eyesore; close it down. Also jet washing the stone walls in the town might brighten things up a little.
Parking in town is very limited, so parking along High street is perfectly acceptable. Sounds like some jealous little gits, truckerash. I hope you find them.
So what is Ed Milliband trying to say? Don't be a square, take drugs or I wish I had taken drugs. Seems a very strange thing to say.
Train services are being disrupted due to a person hit by a train between Exeter Central and Exmouth. Short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 90 minutes can be expected. When I was using Internet Explorer 7 the site looked a bit weird, but since I have upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 the site improvements look fine. The advert in the middle of the screen is a bit off-putting though.
Forget newspapers; everything you need is online and up to date.
I don't see any difference; if two people consent then what's the problem. Do what you like I say!
Merry Christmas. Eat, drink and drink some more.
Well either the damage is somewhere between Holcombe and Teignmouth or the guard was mistaken.
The Localism Bill was introduced to House of Commons on 13 December 2010. The Bill is seen as integral to the Coalition’s “localism” and “Big Society” agendas. It sets out measures to devolve more powers to councils and neighbourhoods and also to enable local communities to have greater control over local decisions like planning. The Bill consists of 405 pages, 208 clauses and 24 schedules and so ...
Has anyone been hit with a penalty fare on the trains? Dawlish train station ticket office is often closed and the self service machine doesn't work at times, therefore the train company cannot impose a penalty fare. Also do the train companies pay the passengers when the trains are late or cancelled! I'd like £20 everytime my train is cancelled or the train is too packed to get on. Personally I ...
Well being a double agent my Russian pay masters will keep me going.
Does anyone know when the bandstand is being knocked down to make way for something that doesn't look like it belongs in afghanistan.
It just makes me want to don a hoodie and smash stuff up. The council spending £80K on cctv just goes to show what they think of us.
I rather like the Ferret & Radiator. It's down to earth, friendly, fun and many people I know like the pub very much as well. It is a shame that local residents are disturbed, but I guess it's just at the weekend and you would expect noise living in any town centre at the weekend. Great that they turned it off anyway.
BT are scum, I just found out that I had been opted-in to BTFon. Which is some rip off where bt let others use your broadband. Now I have to wait for it to be disabled before my home network will work properly again. Also the mobile bt broadband dongle never works. When it comes to bitching about BT we could all be here for weeks. BT are utter idiots!!!
Never mind, what it was or should be, just enjoy it. The airshow is the best bit followed by the Fosters bar on the lawn.

Moving the carnival to Friday is a great idea!

The event is called Silly Mini Sunday with proceeds going to a new Children's Hospice being built in Cornwall.
RESIDENTS are refusing to stay quiet in the supermarket store wars saga dominating Dawlish. Fresh plans by Tesco and Sainsbury's to build stores within a mile of each other have generated a flurry of letters to Teignbridge Council planners. There have been 38 letters of objection against Tesco's bid to build a supermarket on land at Lady's Mile Holiday Park. That compares to three letters against ...
This is Britain's nuclear deterrent and the logic is simple: Whatever happens to the mainland, even if it's utterly destroyed, that lone submarine will always be ready and able to strike back with overwhelming force. (One of Britain's four Trident submarines is always out there, somewhere under the Atlantic, carrying more destructive power than was unleashed in the entire campaign of World War II. ...
FOUR fire engines were called to a cliff near Dawlish after a big area of gorse caught fire in a suspected arson attack. One appliance from Dawlish was first on the scene near Lady's Mile cliff footpath in Warren Road near the railway line at 2.30pm on Saturday. Reinforcements were called for as around 500 square metres of scrub was alight. Two pumps from Teignmouth and one pump and the water ...
A MAN suffered a dislocated jaw after he was hit over the head with a baseball bat in an alleged attack at Dawlish. The 30-year-old man was still in hospital last night after the attack in the Oak Park Villa area of the town. Police are investigating an allegation that two men assaulted him at about 11pm on Monday. The victim, who was outside his property when the attack happened, called for an ...
IN THE face of a tidal wave of unemployment and choking economic recession in 1981, Conservative Cabinet Minister Norman Tebbit sparked outrage by suggesting that jobless people should "get on their bikes" and look for work. It was a defining political moment, which nearly three decades later is to be put to the test by one of the most well-known faces in TV news. From today, Sky News presenter, ...
Dawlish has been named as one of only six towns in the entire country to achieve a prestigious five-star rating in the biannual Clean Britain Awards, officially making it one of the cleanest towns in Britain. Run by the British Cleaning Council, the awards celebrate the cleanest and tidiest towns and cities across the UK. The process involves a written entry followed by a rigorous inspection of ...
RETAIL giants Sainsbury's are ploughing on with their bid to build a store in Dawlish despite an attempt to force a judicial review. The supermarket firm has submitted a second application for the store and petrol station at Shutterton after a legal challenge by rival Tesco. Meanwhile, Dawlish mayor Wally Protheroe says residents are the ones losing out by the delay and are 'frustrated' by the ...
ARSONISTS have been blamed for a fire which swept through two acres of heathland near Teignmouth. Firefighters spent an hour and a half in strong winds battling the fire which is believed to have been ignited by fireworks. One fire appliance from Teignmouth and the 4x4 vehicle from Dawlish were called to Little Haldon after a passing motorist saw plumes of smoke and flames leaping into the air.
Karl Marx is probaby laughing in his grave. Maybe he was right after all? True communism probably would work. Providing we had equal human rights and equal rights to services. Throw the pickled sharks in the bin, hang the gay fasion designer, melt down the Jewelery. Diamonds and precious metals are then used purely for industrial use. Imagine if we had a shit hot high speed rail service funded and ...
