i think its great, i love the airshow but think its taken over our carnival day in recent years, now you can watch both without wearing yourself out
slightly off the subject, but i see the fair has arrived with several rides around the perimeter of the lawn. i hope this will not interfere with spectators of various events. i personally do not see the need for this but no doubt dave rowlands contributes generously to the airshow
the fair was surpose to b here last week but got water log at teignmouth personally i think its a bad idea having it there with the carnival 1 the noise aspect of it how they gonna have both john od on mic and the noise from the rides,2 the cost to us parents its a struggle going down every day with out the fair as well,3 i think it takes away from the family carnival theme just hope my purse and many more can cope with it
totally agree with you jacky, the carnival week was for families and townspeople, you could go down everyday and spend as much as you could afford without too much pressure,if you are on holiday you expect to spend. i agree with you about noise i dont think i will bother
if you have say 3 childrn and live on a limited income can you afford it ? the children like to go down everyday for the events now the pressure is really on parents with so many fairrides, that was the point you FOOL. the fair has its placein dawlish but not on lawn carnival week !!!!!
im sure some on this forum r stupid i agree with pjd the fair is ok but not with the carnival i got 5 kids all together if they have a fiver each a daythats 25 pound thats wittout drinks etc i come a family thats helped with dawlish carnival for years and i mean years was brought up helping run it,just think its a shame that the fairs there as it take from the carnival which gives to the local charites yes rowlands do help with things but my purse is only so big
also fel whos has to pay for the kids to go on the rides u plank,or would u rather they go out and rob
Jacky, there are a lot of family's in your position as i have grandchildren myself and they have to learn the word NO!!. You allow them ex amount to spend and when they have spent it that's it!!!!
i agree with most people on here this yr the fair have got 4 or more rides during carnival week it is not on also i think the airshow has got too big and taken over the carnival gone were the days of staying on the lawn allday watching everything now it's too expensive. Also some power has gone to peoples heads down there people or wheel chairs cant get past ther fair rides as the exits to rides joins the flow of people trying to walk in opersit direction, I personally wont be spending a lot of time there this year.
Never mind, what it was or should be, just enjoy it. The airshow is the best bit followed by the Fosters bar on the lawn.
People just don't like change! What's that saying, you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time!!!
I'm thinking they should advertise on lots of A4 sheets around town of 'what's on' and times..rather than make you pay 2.50 for the booklet. Maybe its me being mean!.. but i'm sure they would gain more from not keeping everything a secret!
Well, we've already coughed up £2.50 for the carnival programme. This is the first year that I've seen a separate Air Show programme (another £2.50). Fair enough for them to raise money, but as the previous correspondent said perhaps it would be good to let us locals in on what's going on - particularly considering how rammed the town will be tomorrow, with anti-social parking and the rest. Of course we'll put up with it as usual, and hopefully enjoy the show, but yes, a little consideration to the locals would help. That said, the pram race this year, which is largely a local event, was a storming success, and for which many thanks to all involved. Raft race ditto, but a bit quick; possibly a world raft speed record (Dawlish Division)?
