on the door today ..'Application for a Sandwich Bar' Blondie is back with us ! ..though you were away spending your winnings on the Grand National ..my horse never even started !
Alex's Posts on Dawlish Discussion
and i'm thinking of opening up a new video, dvd and game rental store in dawlish, charging half the price of what the current rental store does and was wondering if anyone would be interested, please respond with your views. with thanks, Alex
She was not to know !...she made a fair question. There could have been many responses..saying about clubs, church groups etc ..even an invite to join (ha) .. if you move here!
Thank you!! Well I was happy with my shop there today, I used the £3 off voucher that came through the door! The staff were fine too.
Exactly Emp ... I wonder who actually read 'every' word of that long and winding Pollster posting. I didn't ! .. and as for not bothering to return to see the response.. mmm! If you can't make your point in a few words .. there is usually little to say !
You cant do anything to keep people happy can you? Re prevous posting ... I can see soon Dec 25 being called 'Presents Day' .. it has no meaning to so many..which would be of no surprise as schools do not set any Christian standard. Most Christmas cards have Santa and presents on. People want premium pay if they work over festivals ..and if the day falls on a Sunday have3 extra dats off work..yet ...
Of course I know that .. but I was trying to be polite.
What is this obsession with dogs? .. oh now I see, that is WHAT 'a life' is lol.
Well said Mindful. I wanna go ... and wanna go now ! There is something really spooky about the people and business in Dawlish. People post to seek genuine information and get no sensible help at all. Dogs seem to be the favorite topic.
...so that was April ! Only the 'Caravan enquiry and whats on' postings! You certainly can tell the ones that originate from Dawlish. I still wish a post message could go via the Webmaster, as in Yahoo Groups. IF that was the case, the other few postings this month would rightly not be displayed ..them and only then will the forum have sensible content and credability. I know I am asking too ...
..you stay in with your Horlicks!...well at least they do try to do something different in Teignmouth. I'm v tempted !
Very true... Mind ... I would love 'The Strand' to be car free, just access for delivery lorries amd Emergency vehicles.
You can't miss Zoe publicity in the shops and on telegraph poles .. good job that ..but where is the Cat ?
She was ONLY asking !!! .. fair enough question. I am unable to suggest anywhere in Dawlish .. see postings in 'Who owns Dawlish' ..Dawlish pubs aim to attract the Football types...I saw 'Curry and a Pint' outside one this week..not very up market.
Me and Stumpy had a go in the 'who owns Dawlish' discussion..we still here .. only just !
No mention of beaches.. crazy ! ...you wouldn't think Dawlish was by the sea if it wasn't for the pictures. Under issues 'traffic cingestion in the Strand' .. I would soon solve that and make it delivery lorries only. Have a look at their website .. it's www.dawlishtommorow.com ... see if you arrive at the same thoughts as me and report back!
You proably have all seen in the 'Dawlish News' on the back page ..Somerfield ends next year. This will please many I guess who have disliked the shop so much ..the paper mentions it being possibly an Electrical store?. I did notice that the paper says it is the only Supermarket here, there is 'Cost Cutters' with larger floor space than Somerfield and they are open until 10pm everyday. I don't ...
We did TRY to inspire discussion! ..in our own particular way ..but ended up with no input. I just wish now all the old messages could be removed ..what impression they give goodness knows..there is no chance for the Forum if they remain. Just my view !
Went to catch a train at 230 this afternoon .. station is on a makeover. Painting outside the main entrance door and on the platform were sanding the seats for a repaint. If they do the bridge too that will be good.
No problem ..I have still been watching all the postings. Good luck with your move.
Yes I do understand computers actually. If you look I recently praised Bow Windows for their new improvements..now much improved. I am more than happy not to bother looking on Dawlish.com anymore ..so I will not see any reply..it's gone very petty. The open postings sadly have been abused ..if you write a letter to the Dawlish News of the type you see here ..it is certain and rightly it would not ...
Sadly not ! ..we've gone full circle and back again. Whilst here, better say ..well done to 'Bow Windows' ..new windows. Hope the chalk board goes ..I was watching a brillant sign writer in a pub in Exeter this week ..her real job is behind the bar!
Something a like must go on everywhere. I remember trying to sell a property (not here) where new mortgage rules applied to houses constructed of older materials. I needed a cash buyer. the Estate Agent said 'I know a builder that will offer you half the value!' ..I sold it on my own in the end. I suppose the problem is ..staff write up the property particulars, newspaper ads.. and word gets out ...
Somerfield is the only store that has their so called 'saver card' ..well you are only allowed money off IF you select their current saver bargains. I go mad when I have three or four 'non' special offer items and they 'auto' say at the checkout 'have you a saver card?' ...The answer I give and PLEASE say this too.. 'yes ..but there is NO point' In Tesco and Sainsburys every £1 you spend helps ...
I was only responding to the points if you read carefully...I can live with Bow Windows looking like it is, it's no problem to me. At the risk of sounding like a politician .. I refer you to my posting of 21 Feb 'Has everyone lost the plot' ..where I suggest if people don't like Dawlish they should move on and they should ! As for 'what's on' ..well there didn't seem to be anything to post..all I ...
On the coast it's probably Salcombe, then Sidmouth ..Dawlish is somewhere down the list ..certainly not the highest prices, though may seem it. North Devon is low and parts of run down Plymouth. Go to ..www.upyourstreet.com and type in each town and all will be revealed. I use that site a lot for all info. Hope that helps.
.. is the fare if you are resident in Devon with a travelcard. It costs more than that to run the car and include parking fees. The law now requires that new vehicles are required with disabilty access ..these cost over £100.000 each! Dawlish has a bus every 15 minutes during the day to Exeter and Teignmouth...to maintain that you need 10 buses along the route ..add the costs together with the ...
Reading the text of your posting ..perhaps in your spare time you could take a course in English literature and you may gain a career or at least be able to complete an application form!
Ok.. YOU open a 'Thai' food place ..I have no problem with that ..let's just see the demand. I see no excitement on this forum for one or is there ???
See the first Monty post of the day ! What a shame. Hope you will do something or I wonder what the future of this forum is.
How can anyone move to a place and then after only a year ...try to change everything? Surely you knew what it was like before you came? I would move out if I hated it so much. Seems no matter what the business is ..everyone dislikes. Open a shop and people say 'they won't do any good' and locals will certainly make sure they don't. Yet people complain about visitors. It's dead in the town today ...
Thanks Jeanette ..must say it looks really nice ..so must try it.
Just about sums Dawlish up ! ..one thing they can do is lift a pint glass!
