Thought it would be interesting to see what the actual population is made up of ..given that so many say it's all old people here. Looks like that is not the case.. 60% are under 49.

I found the exact same thing a year ago! Its a myth that Dawlish is mainly old people; yet they run the place as if it was. Then they are surprised that there is a vandalism problem.
But there is a huge 'Dawlish mustn't change' attitude and not just among the old people - business interests too I think.
Inertia is nothing to do with the OAPs here - so lets not bust their balls.
They just want a quiet life devoid of dog sh*t- - (or full of dog sh*t, depending on their canine preferences).
The real issue is that the younger people just don't give a rats ass. This is partially because of idleness, but also because they are not visionary (or intelligent) by nature.
Sensible ongoing development plan, constantly revised and monitored.
