Some years ago. I can´t remember exactly when. I made an exchange with some boys and girls from Dawlish. I write this because I would love to know anything about any of then. I remember Dawlish as a lovely place I have never came back but I am sure it is still a nice place.

'I am sure it is still a nice place.'

Its exactly as it was when you last saw it. Except a bit tattier and more dilapidated. Bow Windows is a disgrace,

Do they realise the decor I wonder?.. have you see the window cills ? ..together with the badly written black boards, wonder if the frontage represent the kitchen!...actually it's probably all a ploy to get talked about .. its working..no other restaurant in Dawlish has had such free publicity ... the careing, clean, hard working ones don't get a mention do they.

Names are traditional in Britain, though in Dawlish during the 1960s - a number of children attending Dawlish Secondary were given numbers instead, as they found them easier to remember.

Is it not possible for the council to insist that they do something about it? After all it reflects on Dawlish as a whole. Failing that perhaps they could be shamed into acting. I also wonder how they get round health regulations as people eat meals outside in the summer. (WHY they do is another matter - the meals aren't particularly cheap or appetising and the chairs are horrible old cheap plastic stuff- whats the attraction? Or do Dawlish people think that this is all they deserve?)

The Chamber of Trade would have a bit of push perhaps ..but nobody can insist you smarten a business frontage. if anyone took the buiness over you would never ever leave it like it is ..but as you say, strange as it is ..they get 'bums on seats' .. so many must be happy with it.
Wonder if Bow knows about this forum and if they would like to respond ?

My guess is that they don't know as people seem not to complain about anything in Dawlish (except about the young people); I think re bums on seats that they have a loyal fan base of elderly customers who have been going there for years. It has been mentioned at the Regeneration group meetings though.

Alex and concerned. What happened to the answers for the person looking for friends. I see she does'nt have much info, but stop bitching about bow windows. Someone's trying to start up a proper conversation and you've both turned it into a opertunity to have a moan again. Are you never happy, is there anything you DO like about Dawlish?
If not why dont you move.
Its not that bad here, yes so some of the shops & cafe's are a bit scruffy but that isnt the end of the world

I was only responding to the points if you read carefully...I can live with Bow Windows looking like it is, it's no problem to me.
At the risk of sounding like a politician .. I refer you to my posting of 21 Feb 'Has everyone lost the plot' ..where I suggest if people don't like Dawlish they should move on and they should !
As for 'what's on' ..well there didn't seem to be anything to post..all I can see this week, is on Saturday at The Shaftsbury re a Spiritual meeting for those that maybe interested.
I have tried to post some sensible points ..at least we are away from three weeks of dogs... but I am happy not to post if that's the opinion ..no problem.

Alex
You should not be put off by postings such as that from Daisy. It is a perfect example of the extraordinary attitude that keeps Dawlish from moving forward. I don't know why it is that one cannot make suggestions about how Dawlish can be improved without people taking it as some sort of personal criticism. Its very strange. Anyway Daisy you are stuck with the likes of me for a while yet and believe me I and others like me will continue to push for improvements in what could be a lovely place if one or two things were attended to.

I think everyone agrees that improvments can be made, I think Daisy meant that someone was asking for help to find a friend and people started talking about something completely different.

Answering Lorena
I know a family with the name Toney, is her dad called Steve ?

I don't think everyone agrees improvements can be made. Most people respond to criticism by saying 'if you don't like it go away.' You should welcome constructive criticism.

Thanks Erica, at least someone got the jist of what I was trying to say. Ive nothing agains improvement its just that the poor girl was trying to contact frriends and the conversation went completly off the subject.I just felt a bit sorry for her.
I moved down here about 7 years ago and I love living here, I just dont let little things like the state of Bow windows get me down.

Never heard of her.

Please be aware that only 4 people (+ Webmaster) post on this board. Alex, Concerned, Blondie and Emperor Solarzoom IV.

They represent the last sentient homo sapiens in Dawlish. Everyone else has had their feeding tube disconnected.

No he's right. We are the only people posting on here apart from the odd flurry from bored teenagers now and again. There must be something in the Dawlish air which stifles debate - or even life. Have you noticed that all the letters in the Dawlish Post are from people in Teignmouth? Thats cos no one in Dawlish writes letters to the paper either.
No doubt someone will say its sad to post on here or write letters to the paper - time would be better spent getting ratarsed down the Ferret.
By the way I phoned the council re dog mess. Result!!! Very impressed.

Sorry, sometimes I speak in tongues. I'm channeling those teenage voices....

There really is only 4 people (+ webmaster) here

...and the voices, the VOICES, they spake unto me, and said....

'i'm looking at the man in the mirror, i'm asking him to change his ways. Billie Jean is not my Lover, she's just a girl who sez that I am the one'

...and so on and so forth.
