Sometimes gossip is another name for concern. This poor lady would not have laid dead for four weeks if more people kept an eye out for their neighbours. (the family aren't local)
Hope you have a great time. Good places to eat are Smugglers inn at Holcombe - great carvery with local meats and other dishes and the old mill tearoom for cream teas with home made scones. If you want to visit local attractions I recommend the museum, very cheap and great displays. The lawn area with the ducks and swans are always popular and the beach is nice, if you've got children it is worth ...

Well said from Leeds. The West Country people seem to have a problem with tourists, in Cornwall it is worse. They want visitors but don't if you follow. What they forget is they have the nerve to go on holiday themselves in other areaa of the country and expect to be welcomed. It's a good thing the West Country Tourist Information do not adverise this discussion board.. people would soon choose ...
A commuter who takes a popular train to work says he will be forced to start driving the 13 miles into Exeter when the service is axed. Richard Frewin, 36, travels to his office near Exeter Central Station on the 7.46am service from his home in Dawlish. It gets him into the city in plenty of time for the start of his day's work at 8.30am. But after a timetable shake-up, which comes into force in ...

I'm currently researching my family history, and have traced the Cridge's back to Queen Street and The Strand from 1841 onwards. I would be very grateful for any information or pictures you have. Thanks in anticipation.
Yes I see. I can imagine that there is a 'ring' whereby the builders collaborate to keep prices low and don't gazump each other. Daresay there is a kickback in it for the estate agent. I've been quoted an estimate by a local estate agent to place a land plot on their sale books - their suggested price seems unbelievably high. Like, twice what I was envisaging.
Brixham Coastguards dealt with three hoax calls yesterday, which tied up valuable resources which could have been needed for real emergencies. The first call came in to the operations room as a 999 call at 2.30 pm this afternoon. The caller reported that a person was hanging over a cliff and needed immediate assistance. However, the Coastguard quickly realised that the informant was a hoaxer since ...

Three beaches in south Devon have reopened after being shut to bathers because of a sewage leak. Water at Dawlish beach, Coryton Cove and Boat Cove was affected after about 700 cubic metres of sewage leaked from a South West Water pumping station. The beaches were given the all-clear after samples assessed by the Environment Agency showed water met European bathing standards.
My apologies for the levity. The comments by SZ4 were extremely witty however, sorry I couldn't reach that level. For what its worth I think you are entirely right. Daw Vale should not be closed. My sister used to visit OAPs there and I joined her once or twice, although I gave up when one of the old dears took a fancy to me.
Could be a better sight than Dawlish girls, judging by the sweathogs standing outside Dawlish Secondary Modern. Getting a bit worried about Mark's increasing neurosis about Dawlish though.

So what if anyone does know anything about "the stabbing" its a police matter and should not be for the small minded town gossipers that feed on rumours to fill their little empty lives!
Why do the residents of dawlish make such an issue of the carnival. personally dressing up like a fool and cram packing the pubs seems utterly small minded. I can see why the carnival may be a positive thing for children but my concerns are with why fully grown adults go to the pub to numb thereselves with alcohol rather than doing something much more constructive!

Just a way of getting from A to B? Some of Europe's train journeys offer unexpected treats - great views of beautiful landscapes. All you need to know is where to look... 31 July 2006 1. La Spezia to Cinque Terre The view: Cinque Terre and Italy's north coast. What will I see? My golden rule for travelling is... A place for everything and everything in its place. Preparation and putting things in the right pockets is crucial. I try to make sure that if I need something quickly I can lay my hands on it. My best holiday ever was to...Dawlish, in Devon, with my family when I was 10 or 11. It was the first time I got sunstroke. I remember being sick and my mum rubbing ice ...

A householder has been fined £50 for fly-tipping after putting rubbish out for collection at the bottom of the drive. John Kenyon says he received the fixed penalty notice after looking after his mother's home while she was in hospital. And when he rang Teignbridge council to protest, he was told they could only consider appeals in writing. Mr Kenyon has been looking after his elderly mother's ...
