A famed tourist attraction in a Devon resort has been dealt a new blow.In the wake of recent reports that Dawlish's black swans had been decimated by predators, it has now been revealed that the annual display of chicks at the Dawlish Brook waterfowl enclosure has been cancelled.
The black swans are under threat after more than a dozen died in the last 18 months. There are now just eight left to grace the brook which runs through Dawlish to the sea.
Now, town council clerk John Winchester has said there will be no display of chicks at the waterfowl enclosure, as the building has become "unsuitable" for the wardens to work inside.
He said: "It is hoped a small number of ornamental waterfowl will be on display."
