12 dead in one year? For gods sake Dawlish, you're not Baghdad. You can't even look after a few birds. You all belong in Langdon Mental Hospital.

I suggest you read a copy of today's Express and Echo page 16 a very interesting letter about what might have happend to our swans

Thanks for that link.

Yes I agree. No feathers or blood. They've been stolen. As Devon saw with the beached ship recently, its become a scavengers world.

People wouldn't see ship-salvage as stealing, nor kidnapping swans as theft. They would see it as a victimless crime.

At least the swans aren't dead, but replacing them is pointless. What a shame.

probably no connection, but quite a few parts of england have had a problem with swans being taken by eastern europeans now living here, as they are seen as a delicacy in their own countries. i remember seeing a recipe in one publication giving serving suggestions

There have been two swans nesting on the brook near the sea front recently. I am amazed at the amount of people who video/photograph them mid coitus, some even getting their children to watch. Perhaps it is these sick , sick people who are involved in the 'disappearance' of our swans?

Dont forget that the Town Council sold 5 this year and most of the exotic water fowl belonged to the Water Fowl Warden he left and so did they????? So dont believe the lies that the Town Clerk says that they (swans) have been killed by dogs, if he was so worried about swans why did they sell the five and where did the money for them go? Perhaps somebody else can find it in the Report and Accounts as I cant.

Yes, either he is lying, or stupid.

Which is it?

Presumably he knows full well that the birds are being stolen and have not been eaten by a dog/fox.

Is there any evidence that the swans have been removed? If not, then maybe they have flown somewhere else. Swans have wings you know!

Well not the Dawlish ones. technically it's "wing" rather "wings", because all the Dawlish swans have one lopped off so they can't escape (Dawlish or dogs).
