For the second time Dawlish Town Council have stopped members of the public asking questions, last nights agenda "Item 2 DEFERMENT OF BUSINESS for comment by the public" this was then changed by Bush to take place at the end of the meeting, consequently at the end Bush closed the meeting without allowing any member of the public to speak. When challenged he and town clerk Winchester stated "members of the public cannot address the council before an election"
There is something fundementally sick with this council and members of the public should be made aware of how they act, hopefully the Audit Commission will now instigate a FORMAL investigation of the goings on.

If you have a very bad Town Clerk, you will inevitably get a bad council.
Lets hope that after the May elections there will be councillors who are prepared to take him on and not pander to his expensive needs.
We need a Clerk that is honest and does not mislead people.
Who employed the one we have now? "those other dishonest members of the council", I wonder?

So Jambuster and Rainbow. Who is who? Which one published the offensive leaflet that was distributed? Or am I wrong?

You both seem to have a real bee in your bonnet about the Town Council so why haven't either of you stood for election? Perhaps you aren't quite so well supported as you think.

You can't help but be exasperated with the Council at the moment though. Unfortunately they seem to offer a lot of false promises and only concentrate on the areas that seem important to them and not the majority of the public in Dawlish. I wish it were different, but I am totally at a loss as to who to vote for in the coming elections, as there just doesn't seem anyone worth turning up on election day for.

Try going to a council meeting and see for yourself how they act, you might get a better understanding. Join that bunch of hypocrites no thanks, you might say there would be a chance of changing things from within and you could be right, but I prefer not to be indoctrinated.

oblivious is in the guessing game, Rainbow certainly played no part in the publishing of the wonderfully put together leaflet, I cannot vouch for Jambuster.
From the comments I have seen, most have a futile complaint of the symbol, but not of it's content, so there's a plus.
Perhaps those same people have objections to the St Christopher dangling around someone's neck.

Jambuster - how on earth can you be indoctrinated at a Town council meeting? They're not the Moonies for goodness sake, moast of them are just a bunch of retired people with good (maybe sometimes misguided) intentions trying to do their best for the town they live in!

Or perhaps they are all the spawn of Satan, should we look for 666 under their foundation garments!!!

Get a grip.
