Your right about environment legislation issues Lynne. I've read that a large percentage of directives - perhaps the sort that protect estuary wildlife habitats and which are about to help bring forward significant open green spaces here in Dawlish and Exminster - may end up on a bonfire of 'red tape' under the Great Repeal Bill, following our EU departure. These open spaces will have been ...

Quite, Lynne. The NHS cannot wait until the cusp of the next general election to be thrown a lifeline. Meanwhile that very real figure of £50 million a year is disappearing through doctors being trained here, then taking their skills abroad - even before the extra cost of locum doctors comes into play.
A quick update on the freight train derailment between Castle Cary and Westbury. Network Rail have today confirmed that the line will re-open at 2200 tomorrow, Friday (24 March). Services will therefore operate normally from Saturday (25 March), albeit that there are improvement works between Reading and London on Sunday (26 March).
Hedging your bets there Burneside? I do not accept your characterisation or your logic, however I would agree that an out-of-touch Tory party leadership conducted a disastrous Remain campaign (on the back of a dismal pre-referendum EU negotiation display by David Cameron) which emphasised more the negative aspects of leaving, rather than the positive reasons to remain. The Remain side was ...
Worth looking beyond the headlines for the facts on this story...
Thank for this link, Lynne. There will be many in the community who would seem to be able to qualify - and with the credits going towards topping up any shortfall in the new state pension, a bit of effort with some form filling could prove very worthwhile.
Following the Dawlish.com news story about Little Mix at Powderham, I thought they were dead rabbits! Seriously though, thanks DEEDOODLE - great pix!
Thanks for the petition link Lynne. Obviously the more that sign the petition better - and as with all these things it will be good to see what sort of response this will generate.
Yes, it was an option in 2013 (as you say Option 2 in the report below) - and quite an attractive one given its size, prominence and elevation. The temporary SANGS area within this option site (the tongue shaped plot of land described by Lynne above) has to the best of my knowledge been provided by Redrow - even though it would appear Redrow have already paid Teignbridge to secure permanent ...
It has continued to be raised with Network Rail by Dawlish Town Council (Civic Amenities Committee) and I will report any news as I get it.
This is the relevant extract from the Sainsbury's S106 town centre developer contribution document: £200,000 towards "projects aimed at sustaining the vitality and viability of Dawlish town centre and including works to meet objectives contained in the Town Centre Masterplan dated April 2008 as published by the Dawlish Community Trust". ...
This just in from Lady T's Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, writing exclusively (and now diplomatically) for Private Eye: There was an old fellow from Ankara Who was attacked by the army with Tankerers. They attempted a coup, ended up in the stew, Leaving the democratically elected President Erdogan back in control For which we give half-hearted thankerers. International crisis ...
The only winners I see at the moment Margaret are Iceland.

The sacrifice and bravery of our forefathers in the battle to free Europe from a murderous regime will be forever in our hearts, despite the passing of the years. It is only natural to ponder what those who are no longer with us would have thought was the right thing to do for the ongoing security of our country. Victory in Europe should be remembered as that point in history when this ...
Liam Hill of Britain Stronger in Europe said "Our volunteers made their way to Starcross on both the Saturday and Sunday of Radio 1's Big Weekend to speak to voters about the importance of registering to vote and of voting Remain. "We were enthused by the large numbers of people who said they were already registered and understood the significance of the choice facing the country." In ...
Absolutely brilliant news, Flo. Well done to all those who have been working so hard behind the scenes to make this happen. Should get Carnival 2016 off to a flying start!
It would seem that nobody's perfect, Purrrrrfect. I refer to S's thread of the 18th May at 11:58 above: 'What are those sheds/dumping ground? Does it look like that now?'
So, making a broad assumption that the number of new affordable homes built in the Coalition years between 2010 and 2015 were delivered nationally at a ratio of 25% (the same figure as set for Dawlish) then the total number of homes built in that period would equate to 868,000 (217,000 / 25%). That would be an average of 173,600 total new builds a year, which I don't think is a mile away from the ...
Thank you for the clarification, Morty. BTW, WRT the sort of pollution that Margaret refers to above, I met up with a chap this morning who does the rounds for TDC in Dawlish sweeping up, er, left behind waste. It would seem there are a number of serial offenders out there - and their cards are being marked. His advice? Mind your step...
A Community Right of Appeal that would allow an infrastructure decision to be contested if 'the local authority gets something wrong' could of course not only be used for matters such as drainage, but also for roads. The link road between Sainsbury's and Gatehouse is a prime example. Whether our MP had in mind the proposals by Teignbridge District Council (aided and abetted by Devon County ...
To put my post above into context @Barbarawils68 , for an appeal at Gatehouse to stand a better chance of approval (and for that matter at Hill Drive) fresh proposals for the deferred NW Secmaton Lane (DA2) Development Framework will need to come forward containing acceptable access arrangements and a revised link road delivery schedule. We have already heard Humphrey Clemens (Teignbridge ...
Dawlish Water outflow & sea wall works update from Network Rail as below (my queries to NR in italics): I write in response to your queries concerning Dawlish works as I have received the following update from the Project Team: The [outflow] structure was breached at the start of the year following a succession of weather patterns which scoured abnormal quantities of sand from the beach, ...
