The train put on by OkeRail left Okehampton just before 8am today and was supposed to be the first direct train to the capital in decades - using the line across the top of Dartmoor instead of the coastal route via Dawlish.
But the train slipped down the rails as it left Dawlish, leaving it with 'a flat'. That means the wheels have been worn away. An engineer has inspected the train and said it was not in a fit state to continue to London.
