I must stand up for the Co-op staff I encounter at my normal shopping time which is after 5pm on my way from work. I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful - especially the lads who work there.
Hmmm - Tesco in the Barton Hill car park - I hope not! Not Tesco nor any other store. As a town centre resident who would be affected by this, I completely agree with Casandra's comments.

So you want to clutter up Dawlish with two supermarkets both offering the same product ranges and prices? What's the point in that?
I've managed to do a full weekly shop in Dawlish town centre, (and we eat well, on good food) for the last 5 years. There must be many like me who either don't want to use their car for shopping or who don't have a car. We need our town centre food shops! Sorry to butt into your conversation, but what annoys me about being able to pay by text/credit card is the additional fee "for my convenience"! In other words, it costs us more to park but costs the council less as the money goes direct into their bank account. OK, so they pay bank charges, but not the cost of paying someone to physically collect the money. Doesn't seem right somehow! ...
"I still haven't heard of a sensible objection to Tesco's application." 1) it would kill off the town centre - all of us who walk to do our shopping, and there are many of us, would loose out if our butchers, bakers, greengrocers etc are killed off by out of town trade. And then we'd be left with empty shops. There are a limited number of customers in Dawlish, it's a small town, and our town ...
