You can add your comment in support of Dawlish's bid to become a Portas Pilot town on Mary P's website at http://www.maryportas.com/news/2012/02/04/bid-to-become-a-portas-pilot/comment-page-3/. It's interesting to read some of the comments about other towns who have also made the bid.
A lot of support there for Lancing but I couldn't see much there for towns in SW so maybe we're in with a chance if we can rally local support here.
Just been having a look at the comments.
A thought. Perhaps we could rally the troops via Facebook to help support the Dawlish bid by letting them know about the Portas bid website. I don't have a fb account so can't help out but I know that others who read this website do. Can any of you help get the word out via fb?
Just a thought for anyone posting a comment on that site.
If the winning towns are to end up on a TV "makeover" programme then the selectors will I suspect be looking for unique points of interest for a TV audience - 12 "identical" towns with run-down shopping centre on high street and lots of charity shops wouldn't make for good TV. So perhaps we ought to emphasise what would be unique and interesting in Dawlish to make it different to other towns in a makeover programme and appeal to TV audience/ratings.
FB, good idea. I've added the link to the Eyes of Dawlish and Dawlish Traders pages. It's also on the DawlishBlue website, along with the video.
@The Quiet Dragon - great.
I see from that link in your first posting above that some comments concerning Dawlish were put on the Portas website yesterday. But since then nothing. Let's hope some more postings get made now that details of the website have gone out via fb.
