from DCC's website: "Another outstanding year of exam success at Dawlish Community College For the third year in a row Dawlish Community College have achieved their best ever set of GCSE results with some big improvements on the excellent grades achieved last year. This is particularly pleasing given that the national picture is showing that results across England have decreased. The ...

Haven't responded to your first post (above) I as I have nothing to say with regards to the questions you pose.

As, as I type this, the weather is reasonable (ie not raining) just thought I'd post a reminder that there is a boofair scheduled for this afternoon at the Warren in the Langstone Cliffe Hotel vicinity. If you go along Warren Road you will see the signs. Buyers 3pm-6pm (sellers from 1pm.) Contact details: 07790 908548 Devon.Fairs@ya hoo.co.uk
And the Channel 4 adverts for the Para Olympic games are just brilliant.
As I've just posted something about rail way journeys on another thread I just thought I'd remind those of us lucky enough to live here that we can buy a Devon and Cornwall Railcard for just £10.00 per year and then we can get a third off the price of off peak rail travel as long as it is within those two counties. Cost me all of £2.60 with a D&C card to do a return Dawlish/Exeter Central trip ...
And near enough to all those new houses that are due to be built for people to be able to walk to work!
#Thanks for that Andy, I'll pass that on to them.
Seems from the advert in today's Gazette (see bottom page 27) that they will be recruiting staff in August for their new store in T'mouth. Anyone know when it is due to open?
Although not a member of the Dawlish steering group which was heavily involved in producing the Dawlish N'bourhood Plan, along with other non steering group members I was someone who took a lot of interest in this process as threads on this website will testify. As this community involvement process rolls out throughout the rest of the country I feel sure others will see the ...

Perhaps then the issue could be raised with one of our District councillors given that four of 'em are Conservative and TDC is now Conservative controlled.
I think what happened was that a tory resigned almost immediately after being elected and that she was replaced, via a by- election, by a VfD candidate Then, some months later, conservative councillor Graham Price resigned from the town council, and given that no-one called a by-election, a co-option took place whereby a VfD candidate replaced Cllr Price. Anyone know what's happening about the ...
If you wish to see an "implication" when what in actual fact happened was that by your mentioning the number 14 in your first posting I vaguely remembered the housing policy concerning when 'affordable" housing has to be offered and when not, then that is entirely up to you. My point remains that should it be the case that a lot of small housing developments are put forward, each separately, but ...
Like you MoH I'm a lay person when it comes to all of this but this is how I see the situation. The Dawlish Neighbourhood Plan is not legally binding (and was never going to be) because the public consultations/steering group meetings etc all took place before the Localism Act came into force. Along with other similar schemes (some 200 or so I think) in the country it was pilot scheme designed ...
If, no, not if, when we get all those new houses built and all those new people living here want to use the train instead of using their cars (as Devon County Council keeps saying they will) I wonder if the ticket office will then be open for longer and more often?
It started with Osborne's budget and has continued with an omnishambles of bad news for the government ever since. Cameron must dread waking up each morning.
Weren't water works (sewer works?) taking place at Tuck's Plot (again) this morning?
This link should give you the timetable http://www.exminster.net/images/graphics/news/village_news/service10.pdf
1. The Hearing Sessions (independent examination) will be held on Monday 23rd April 2012 and Tuesday 24th April 2012 at the Strand Church . Members of the public are welcome to attend and listen to the discussions. 2. The Monday session will run from 2.00pm -5.00pm , the Tuesday session will run from 11.00am - 8.30pm. 3. Wonder if this issue of the sewers not being able to cope at the moment will get raised this Monday and Tuesday when the issue of all the proposed homes gets discussed. Cos with more homes come more people and with more people comes more........well, I'm sure you can guess.
Those links I gave won't open anything? Try this one and then scroll down to the very bottom of the page http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=13658

The Western Morning News seems none too happy about this pasty tax. http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/WMN-opinion-Osborne-wrong-tax-hot-pasty/story-15771545-detail/story.html
Yes, Cassandra, I totally agree with you about the nonsense of needing to travel to Exeter, N.Abb and Torquay in order to see a film/go bowling and it is especially nonsencial when we hear so much about having 'green', sustainable communities. I am sure I am not the only one whose teenager regular travels up to Exeter to see a film. Wouldn't it be nice if they didn't have to do that? Here is an ...
@The Quiet Dragon - great. I see from that link in your first posting above that some comments concerning Dawlish were put on the Portas website yesterday. But since then nothing. Let's hope some more postings get made now that details of the website have gone out via fb.
@Philip and no need to apologise to me either.
and here they are again but put, I think, in an easier way to read. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/apr/05/how-budget-changes-take-effect
Were Dawlish's cctv cameras working?
Eyes of Dawlish saying that it's all been due to a suspicious package being left outside by the ATM at Nat. West. in the town. Buildings nearby have been evacuated. Trains held up at Dawlish Warren and I imagine the same at Teignmouth.(imagine the knock on affect on the rail timetable). Air ambulance has now left Dawlish (watched it leave Sandy Lane) so perhaps now all sorted out?
Aren't the Police, SAR and Coastguard Service subject to public sector cuts/privatisation?
If you,or anyone you know, has received a letter saying that you/they are no longer eligible for these tax credits then please take a look at the info in this link.- coz that info might be wrong! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17567679
Just had an e-mail in from TDC to say that they have now checked their records re the 'missing' letter and it does indeed seem to be the case that they didn't send one out to me and about 20 other people as well. Letters, by 1st class post, are now on their way to all who were left out.
If you read the Gazette you'll see on page 3 of this week's edition an article about the Dawlish Portas Pilot Bid. At the bottom of the article there is a request that we should show our individual support for the bid by emailing the TDC Economy and Regeneration Officer, Naomi Harnett email economyandtourism@teignbridge.gov. uk As the bid has to be submitted this Friday I'd suggest we get ...
Plus of course paying people to do work then gives them money to spend (and yes I know that's stating the blinding obvious but I thought it needed saying) and if they have money to spend then they create demand and if they create demand then that demand must be met by supply and that supply is provided by others who in turn are being paid to work and who therefore have money to spend which in turn ...

Sorry, there weren't any. So, you could still be in line for a drop in income (because you'll no longer be getting the child tax credit) and/or the working tax credit if you can't find those extra hours that will bring you up to 24 per week if you are a couple with at least one child. Here's the info that I originally posted. Like I said, as far as I am aware, what is said in this link will ...
The proposals as per originally put forward (see my first posting on the Child Benefit Reforms thread) have now been altered in today's budget. The situation is now as follows: A family with an income of below £50,000 pa will get CB. A family that has an income of (or has one of the two earner's earning) £50,000 -£60,000pa will still get CB but it will be tapered off bit by bit the nearer ...
from today's Dawlish Gazette http://www.dawlishnewspapers.co.uk/news.cfm?id=10279&headline=Video will help boost bid for town money
