Money down the drain

The drainage pump under the road at the end of Tucks Plot is being raised, cleared and lowered on a very regular basis. This involves the use of a large crane and a five man team for several hours at what must be a significant financial cost to the taxpayer. The contractor team informed me that unless people are educated as to what they should flush then their activity will be regular, ongoing and forever. As regards the public purse this approach appears to be financially unacceptable and unsustainable on a long term basis and a solution needs to be sought. It would be interesting to know the current annual cost of this activity, who actually picks up the cost and whether the contract for this activity is regulary reviewed. The whole situation seems extraordinary both from an engineering and financial perspective and gives the overall impression of being 'a nice little earner.'

Wonder if this issue of the sewers not being able to cope at the moment will get raised this Monday and Tuesday when the issue of all the proposed homes gets discussed. Cos with more homes come more people and with more people comes more........well, I'm sure you can guess.
