Thanks for the explanation re the seating Margaret. Maybe some signage (communication is all) would stop people like Elvis and his disabled umbrella-less friend from having to complain against BR...
Hi MRB, I'm glad that you've reflected upon your original thoughts and that you now agree that work does need doing. You're right that it's pointless doing it whilst it's still so wet, but my god it looks a mess and gives a far worse impression of Dawlish than a lack of umbrella shops does.
Hopefully the chairman of Friends of Dawlish Station will be on here soon to offer a solution to your dilemma.
There is signage at all stations/platforms indicating where trains have to stop, the location of which is determined by the number of coaches on the train. Train drivers have to abide by the signage. In an ideal world, the entire length of platforms would be under cover. Likewise all pavements to stop people walking to train stations from getting wet lol.
I think you're missing the point. If you think that doing nothing will restore the Lawn from its current ploughed field condition, then you're being extremely hopeful. So I ask again, does anyone know what is being done to reinstate the Lawn and what the timescales are. (Oh for the days when we had councillors who could be bothered to use social media to provide answers...).
This might be something that Friends Of Dawlish Station can address? They're certainly supposed to be looking after the donated planters. You can't blame the station though for where the train stopped lol, but you've made a very point about the lack of cover.
Noticed today that Sainsbury's Dawlish petrol prices are 3p a litre cheaper than they were when the school holidays started...
So you'll have seen that the mess has been caused by the vehicles removing the fair rides. It's like a freshly ploughed field.
Brian, I saw it myself today lovey. The Lawn is freshly churned with tyre tracks from where they have removed their fair rides. There's no denying it - perhaps you should wander down and take a look for yourself. So do you know when it's going to be reinstated?
With events planned to take place on the Lawn over the bank holiday weekend, does anyone know when it will be reinstated to its original condition? It's been left in a disgraceful state by Rowlands' vehicles.
