A woman has been rescued from a house in Dawlish after her kitchen caught fire when food was left unattended on the cooker. What has it got to do with Teignbridge council. When we questioned planning at one of the consultation meetings we were told that Network Rail dont have to get local planning consent as they have blanket coverage from central government to pretty much do what they like on their own property. And oh wouldn't it be such a delicious irony if the value (quite literally) of the ransom strip was effectively wiped out by this recently approved housing scheme going ahead (being built by Templar Homebuild Ltd I believe) and achieving access from a different aspect (albeit at the cost of a 300 year old oak tree.)
