I read an article about this fund in the paper yesterday and thought I'd bring what it said to the attention of readers of this site in case they have children/grandchildren born between the dates shown above. Between the dates shown above, when the Child Trust Fund was in operation, every child received a voucher for £250 from the government to be put into the fund. Thing is, that from what I ...

As you've so kindly raised the subject of housing supply .......... "It has been speculated that Brexit might lead to more people choosing to retire in the UK, rather than in EU countries (Spain has been a popular destination up until now). Devon is already one of the most popular destinations in the UK for retirees. Further flows from within the UK could represent a boost to the economy, as ...
Nice to know Ziggy that both EU and your dog enjoy going there.
Saw Gary last night. He seemed to enjoying himself. Does anyone know who the drummers were who were last in the parade. I thought they were great. Edit: To answer my own question - seems they are called Spark. https://www.facebook.com/dawlishcelebratescarnival/videos/2012238218840750/
There was a suggestion in 2016/17 that a large playpark should be sited between the bandstand and the bowling green. Whilst some welcomed this suggestion it proved contentious, and anyway what had been proposed to the public in the 2016 consultation(a large playpark taking up most of that space) had subsequently been reduced in size as what had been proposed, due to cost, was not viable. So what ...
It is not in the least unusual for threads to wonder off the original topic - that is what discussions do. This thread for example https://www.dawlish.com/thread/details/46183 is about the proposed playpark on the lawn and the public consultation. However, at one point (see postings dated (25.7.18) it wondered off topic. It then went back to the original subject - and so far has stayed there. ...
I understand that the government isn't making contingency plans to stockpile food - it believes that is the duty of the food industry. The food industry say they have not been consulted about such measures by the government and anyway they do not have the capacity to stock pile food.

“Nearly 80 percent of British food imports come from EU member states and if no trade agreement is struck Britain and the EU would have to treat each other as WTO members. As an EU member, Britain pays no tariffs on the 20 billion pounds a year of food it imports from elsewhere in the bloc, but after it leaves the default option would be to levy standard tariffs set by the World Trade ...

I assure you the conversation really happened. And I didn't butt in for the very reason that you state. Although it will be my business as indeed it will be everyone else's if the numbers of EU migrants in the UK fall with a subsequent negative impact on the UK economy. Agreed - because that is a bilateral trade agreement between the EU and Canada. But just because that is the situation between them doesn't mean to say that it will be same between the UK and the EU and the UK and other countries. Look here at what arch Brexiteer Jacob Rees Mogg has to say on the subject: (my emphasis in bold) "It is thought the Cabinet has had only one high-level ...
I was just looking through the minutes of the last town council meeting held earlier this month and came across this from County Cllr Clatworthy Link Road – meeting taken place £4.2 to £4.9M likely to be awarded which needs to be taken up by 2022. The design is Feb 2019, construction in the summer with completion in the spring of 2020;
Perhaps the ex bastins premises should be converted into an indoor play centre? I suggest that on the basis that some seem to think that having an outdoor play area (ie playpark) on the lawn will draw in more punters who will then spend in the shops etc. So.........working on that hypothesis and given that it rains an awful lot in this country, it makes sense to me that an indoor playcentre (for ...
