Hi Lynne, I would love the smell to be outside instead of in our bathroom, with no window to open. This town is full of you know what. It was the same in the old flat, but the sewer smell was then in the living room.
Brooklyn Bridge's Posts
I haven't posted on here since December when Lynne was very supportive. Anyway walking the dogs this afternoon I happened to take a rest on the wooden bench at the Newhay. There was a workman there installing what is to be a metal bench. We started chatting about how nice it looks here now they have mowed the grass, ah, his say's they want to sell it?????? what?? the Newhay he say's, 'who wants to ...
Has anyone noticed recently how dirty the pavements are on Dawlish Strand,? or is it me?
Teignpot: Of course they are entitled to get their property back. It's just the way they do it by giving just 8 weeks to get out is not long enough whether young or old 8 weeks is not long enough by a long shot especially in our case being in our 70s and never ever missing the rent payment ever.
I haven't posted on this site for a long, long time and to be honest you can see why. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however, over this century a lot of diseases have been eradicated from vaccines, this covid is no different. There will always be people that will believe in conspiracies which is their right if they wish to. People that have a belief in conspiracies is pure fiction, in this ...
I sure agree with these posts. And once again we have the ( Airbnb) inside the bandstand two of them. Take a look at your new council tax notice, I was shocked 6% to Dawlish Council.
I agree with the posts. If you haven't opened your council tax bill make sure you are sitting down.
At last, someone has seen sense which is outlined on the main page. It pretty much spells out the disadvantages of having a playground at that location. Yes, where is the money coming from is a great question? what with proposed plans for the elusive and never-ending debate of a new bandstand. Also proposed a new bridge linking the Lawn to Brunswick Place. In the great scheme of things if money is ...
Hi Guys, as mentioned before I have a meeting with the Crime Commissioner on Saturday, are there any issues that you feel need to be passed onto her. I wonder how many in this town would like to see the police office open again?
I was shocked at what I heard this afternoon walking my dogs. I came across our PCSO for Dawlish, and just having a chat about the state of the country and the world. The PCSO had a call from the Sargent in Totnes about an incident in the town and needed the PCSO to attend. The PCSO explained that the Teignbridge area would have no cover if it meant that attendance in Totnes is required. But to no ...
Oh come on FredBasset, That's not a very nice response to Carer. I take it you are one of those conspiracy theorists. I have often agreed many times with your post's and you have always made sense to me. But on this point of wearing masks, you are completely wrong. The wearing of a mask is to protect people such as yourself. There are many reports that have also stated that if you are wearing a ...
I wonder how many Dawlish residents have taken a left at the station to have a walk along pigeon alley and the old coastguards building and looked down at the beach at low tide. And what do you see? You see clumps of concrete, Iron bars, rotted groynes and various other debris. I don't know who has responsibility whether its Dawlish council or Network rail, but whoever is responsible for it needs ...
It's not a case of going for a test if you feel you are sick, testing the population is a way of finding out who has the virus and those that may have had it or if anyone is asymptomatic. My wife and I went online to make an appt and we went last Friday, we had a reply by email on Tuesday that we are clear. And can go to work if we want to. The testing site is at the park and ride in Exeter.
Our country and the world is upside down nothing appears real any more nobody talks to anyone, everyone, for the most part, are keeping their distance. So getting your head around this horror is so hard to imagine, its as if we are all playing a part in a horror movie. We have the American TV channel CNN pretty much on 24/7 with a lot more information. The US has a population of 330 million with ...
I may be wrong so I'm open for correction. Was Network rail supposed to suspend all work on the sea wall and open it to the public? I'm sure I saw a sign sometime back that stated that. This work is going to take years. Thanks in advance
Oh, come on Carer I'm all for any workers taking their scheduled breaks. But they're having a laugh at the taxpayer's expense, Network rail that is. But to see one working and twelve just standing and watching, not chatting, in fact, a couple of them sitting by the toilets. I think you are being an alarmest has anyone died in Dawlish due to storms? I understand something needed to be done and ...
I must admit the report on here and in Devonlive paper suggest that the reastaurant is going to close. My Wife and I have been there many times and have a good relationship with the owner. Feeling disappointed I just called Chi and spoke with the owner and they are the freeholder for the property. The restaurant is NOT going to close. Whatever they have planned the owner stated that they have ...
My Norton security stopped this link no https.
Did any of you happen to watch spotlight Friday night about the Air Show being held in Torbay. They reckon 125 thousand people will attend and briing in 7 million pounds into the local community. Torbay had taken over 4 years ago when we lost ours here in Dawlish. What a brilliant day they must have had today.
Hi 1263, I say grateful as we had nothing in the past but a couple of PSCO's with no arrest power,he did walk the beat as it were before having the bike. I think it's better than driving around in the police car/van all day. But I do agree with you that if we are paying more council tax there is a need for another police officer. How it is now the one we have when on an early shift ends at 4pm and ...
Who pays the taxes in this town? How many dogs do the councilors own? Our council taxes keep going up (we got our notice today). Are we just paying for holidaymakers to have the pleasure of our beaches? Why can't there be a time factor such as dogs allowed before 9 am and after 6 pm. wouldn't that be a good compromise. This is ridiculous. Why do we keep having to be inconvenienced for visitors, ...
I do hope that this is just rumour. I heard that 5 of the 6 cygnets born a week or so ago were decimated by a fox. If so this not the first time. Or did someone take them?
Hi Lynne, to be honest I have not heard a peep. I have written to the Council and never recieved any reply. I'm not for the playpark in this location. I see problems down the road, not with just maintainence but ASB during the late hours with the noise. I have informed the Council that it's become a natural habitat for wildlife that live in and around the plants and trees. During the hours of ...
There is nothing in Dawlish to keep your boys occupied when i say nothing i mean nothing. We have the usual array of Cafe's some stay open longer some close at 3pm. A number of charity shops a couple of betting shops. Our only bank closed in October. However you could join our local shoplifting club which are always looking for new members. Yes, some people do look for doom and gloom we have ...
I'm sick and tired of hearing about this bloody playpark. I am against it period!!! At one time I might have agreed that a playpark maybe, just maybe might a good idea. However I believe all these so-called public consultations are smoke and mirror's by the council. I believe the council will do whatever they want. So lets rip up all the trees and plant life around the tourist centre and the wall ...
This past week has been a field day for the co-op shoplifters. Joints of meat, sandwhich meats by the caseload, bottles of wine, beer or cider by the case. You would at least think they would wait until the meat has been reduced. So come on down see what you can get. Of course we all suffer with higher prices imposed to make up for loss.
Can't be any more open than posted unless one lives under a rock. But, will clarify for you. In the bandstand, we have what appears to be homeless people and down at the other end, we have the druggies and alcoholics. Other than that what part do you not understand? Also, the town has a major problem with shoplifting, which affects all of us with higher prices.
Thanks for sharing, I see the usual drinking club are enjoying the sunshine.
I did't think my post through. Of course only people with Internet would be reading it. I feel more concerned with the folks that do not have the Internet and do not have the ability to do banking online.
Thanks once more Lynne for what may be an updated email listing. I will try sending my email again later today. My email lays out that I am opposed to the play park being located outside the (TIC) office. Perhaps those of you on this forum would take the opportunity to do the same and send in via email to all the councilors your objection. If I can figure out how to copy and paste onto this site I ...
It has come to my attention from a reliable source that Dawlish Council are in early talks about banning dogs from the Dawlish lawn area. Also they are in early talks about where the new play park is going to be located. That location is going to be outside the tourist and toilets area where all the scrubbery and trees are. As I said this is only being considered. In my opinion neither works for ...
I agree with the comments. Its an ongoing problem in Dawlish and no doubt every other town and city throughout the country. The Noise that these young kids create during the early hours of the morning is disgraceful, they don't care about anyone but themselves, the parents don't care. Wouldn't a responsible parent wonder where their offspring are and what they are doing late at night and during ...
Well, it would appear that i was wrong about the black bin pick ups. Had an email from the council informing me that the next pick up is June 1st due to the bank holiday. Last pick up was May 17th next pick up June 1st. Upon checking the pickup calendar I was wrong, apologies.
Leatash, while i agree with some of your posts, however being a responsible dog owner myself I disagree with your notion that dogs should be banned from our beaches. I agree that there has to be some control and compromise of which we have in place now with the summer curfu ie no dogs to the right of the station for the summer duration. If, as you say that at 0700 this morning you saw a dog ...
The Lawn is a wonderful open area. Apart from the bandstand it should remain as it is now. The proposed play area will be white elephant that will be no doubt be vandlised. We are lucky to have this open area, I'm surprised that it hasn't be occupied by travellers. If it ever was a least they would have a play area.
There is a certain type of person that lets their dog poop anywhere and it doesn't concern them one bit. You will never get through because that's the way they are. They are cretins of the first order and have no consideration for other people or the environment.
Another dog attack on the Lawn this lunch time killing a black swan. That's two this month both females, at this rate we will not have any black swans in Dawlish by the end of summer. Then the town could be called (The town that used to have Black Swans) A number of people witnessed the attack of the Staffy dog and this is a local person. The police had arrived and statements were taken. Speaking ...
I can sure understand that people leave or do not bother with this forum anymore. I for one only post occasionally, this Diana Mond is either aggressive or passive aggressive perhaps this is how the person gets their kicks. As DEEDOODLE states many unforunate souls do not post anymore.
