A 70 tonne demolition machine called a high reach excavator arrives on Cathedral Green in Exeter to work at the Royal Clarence Hotel early on Tuesday morning. It was a slow and careful operation. Meanwhile an aerial fire platform was still pumping water into hotspots in the hotel.

lovely walk along the water in Teignmouth this Sunday. Although I think some people were taking a bit of a risk overloading there dinghy. Just after they moored up a boat went passed, at speed, sending large waves in their direction which would have certainly sunk their tiny craft.

Anyone else seen these on any other part of the coast this weekend. Watched a documentary a while ago on plastic polluting the sea's and killing loads of marine life.

Walking past the brook outlet last night and i noticed the brook has been cleared on the sea side of the outlet. Although it is still backed up only a few feet back up the brook. What is it with people these days, always a half hearted attempt at most things. Once upon a time people had pride in their work.

I don't disagree with you Pete (I think should only be available through prescription after training and should be insured) but the The Equality Act 2010 calls this the duty to make reasonable adjustments network rail could be compelled to make it  a ccessible

Government said it has no plans for a new Royal Yacht. Really stupid, they clearly have no idea about the country they are supposed to run. Missed an excellent opportunity there, very sad and very silly.

In my opinion, the railway collapse at Dawlish was purely down to the railway companies lack of maintenance to the sea wall. You only have to walk along the beach from Dawlish to the Warren to see large, deep cracks and base sections of concrete that have worn away along the sea wall below the railway line. Many years ago, more than I'd like to think it was, my science teacher once said........ @Goldenhammerman - i agree with you the bandstand was classier than the current bomb shelter. as to the church with the tall spire. it is not only still there, but i believe it is currently having a very impressive disabled ramp constructed. the church always seems very acftive when ever i go passed.

Well those 'raised speed ramps' on The Strand were as effective at slowing vehicles as most things that happen round here these days. Loads of money for nothing. I don't think you could even trip over them they are so ineffective.
