These Councillors should resign

Here is a warning , don't rely on any help from this list of Councillors, to whom I wrote to in desperation last August.

They are, Edward Hockin, Lisa Mayne, Stuart Barker, Humphrey Clemens, Graham Price, Rosalind Prowse, Sylvia Russell, David Cox, Alison Eden, Vince Fusco, David Mathews, Jaqui Orme, Alan Connett, Chris Clarance.

One has resigned, I know, hopefully the rest will follow.

Here is the email set out below, that I have sent.

Dear Councillor,

On 22nd August 2017 I emailed you and 14 of your colleagues, begging for help as I was being threatened, harassed and systematically lied to by Council employees regarding Council Tax Benefit.

Only Councillor Cox had the good manners to respond – but not to help.

The rest of you ignored my email.

Prior to my email, Councillor Prowse advised me the conduct of council employees were not under your influence and no Committee had oversight of the Council Tax Reduction Scheme or its administration.

I had over £2000 extorted from me by Teignbridge Council and you chose to ignore my pleas for you to take a look at the situation in order to prevent more vulnerable members of the community becoming victims.

You have a Department giving away thousands of pounds of benefit, and you have no formal oversight of it and no oversight of customer service. If this statement is incorrect, it is based on information provided by Councillor Prowse. You are allowing the tail to wag the dog.

Teignbridge Council employees have since admitted failures of customer service and ‘harsh’ practise by its staff and gaps in its procedures to ensure non-bias.

You have all failed in your duty of care as a Local Councillor. You have failed to comply with the standards expected of a Local Councillor and the guidelines as published on the Government Website.

When I was a serving Councillor, had I have failed to discharge by duties such as you have I would have resigned. Therefore I am calling on you to resign immediately.

@Diana Mond, the whole sorry saga started on january 23 rd and is almost resolved, when i receive the £469 , they promised me on december7th. i'm sorry but it is a long and convoluted story, which would be too time consuming to post here. it is well documented though without conjecture.

I would add, if anyone has a complaint against a Council Officer, don't use the on line form , as I did. They give themselves 20 working days to respond, I complained in July , I'm still waiting. Closing ranks comes to mind.

Where is it “well documented” please? Is the £469 the final instalment of the £2000? It’s just that the numbers and accusations don’t make sense without the full story. Thanks Bob.

Yes the £469 is the last instalment. I have kept all the emails and all the letters. I haven't the time to write the whole story here, but I am quite prepared that if anyone would like to make the trip up the hill, then they are welcome to see everything.

UPDATE

The money I was owed went into my bank on Saturday.

4 Councillors have responded, Councillor Cox , has been by far the most helpful so far. My complaints are being reffered to The Monitoring Officer.

The number.of Councillors who still have not bothered to respond to my concerns regarding the way the department is allowed to operate is disgraceful.
