Devon rail lines closed during the notorious Beeching cuts of the 1960s could be reopened, the Transport Secretary has announced.

The route from Okehampton to Exeter has been included in the proposal. The route could provide a vital alternative to the Dawlish line - which closes during storms and high tides.

Here is the rub, if the old line is re opened when the next storm demolishes the present coast line.Would the government 

be unwilling to repair or would nature take over.
