As an outsider, but a regular visitor, I have always favoured the idea of keeping the one way system down the Strand, but NO parking EITHER side. My wife & I often do walk under the platform, on our way to the Warren, but the pigeons & crap do not particularly bother us. We are well used to being crapped on!!! Any one who can update us on the boat trips from the jetty?

The dog situation I am sure is common elsewhere, not just Dawlish.It was really just an observation. I'm not sure why the cat comment came from Sid? I never said I saw any cats on the beach. Last weeks Negatives. Dog owners ( Locals, I am sure) continue to abuse the summer beach laws. I counted at least five occasions either on Coryton beach or Town beach that owners were allowing their dogs to wander in the evenings. When are we going to be able to visit the Shaftesbury Theatre? Despite the forecast, last week wasn't too bad. Friday morning was especially interesting along the sea wall!! Never seen it like that before in September. No boat trips though. Our normal eatery, the Ugly Duckling, now closes in the evenings & we like to eat out every night. Not impressed with Baileys, despite its upgrade.Tables not cleaned etc.One to be avoided. All our visits (approx 18)have been at the Blenheim on the corner of Marine Parade.Their 2 balcony rooms for the summer months are often booked up more than 12 months in advance! B & B or self catering. Ideal for 2 persons. Try their website for more info. Recommended.

Just spent Friday to Monday in Dawlish. Council were busy painting everything green and the lean-to shelter over the seats halfway up Lea Mount has been re-newed, although I've never seen anyone resting there. Lovely week, last week in Dawlish.I've always thought September is a good time to visit.
