As the only person in the UK that uses this forum and holidays in Dawlish, I would like to mention that we are visiting in late April.
Should be great, as hopefully we will be the only visitors wandering around the town and on the beach.
The residents probably won't have surfaced after the winter either.
You will know who we are as we wander about in our summer clothes!
See you all soon.
What beach are you talking about. the one we used to have went long ago. Piles of rocks, boulders, large metal stakes adorned with large pieces of timber is all you will get I'm afraid and that goes for Dawlish Warren as well.
Happy rock climbing.
Well Mr.Bridge or Mr. Arch I am relying on you as a local?, to contact the Local council and make sure all that rubbish is cleared before we
arrive.
Dawlish beach is a mess at the moment.
Dawlish Warren is o.k. Plenty of sand.
We don't rely on the council to do anything, so I wouldn't hold your breath on this one.
The weather is lovely for the time of the year.
Good for a walk along the beach from Dawlish to the Warren. What a shame the beach is still a mess, not only the usual rubbish but in the last couple of days there have been dead fish and seagulls.
Hope it gets sorted before you holiday people arrive!
Hi
As you holiday in Dawlish, can you recommend somewhere to stay for a week at the end of June. There is just 2 of us and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Vanessa
All our visits (approx 18)have been at the Blenheim on the corner of Marine Parade.Their 2 balcony rooms for the summer months are often booked up more than 12 months in advance!
B & B or self catering. Ideal for 2 persons.
Try their website for more info.
Recommended.
I visited last weekend on my way in and out of Penzance, to travel the Great Western from Penzance to Paddington. As my Gran used to live in Exeter, i've lost count of the times I've been to Dawlish. I love the place. If I ever won the lottery, I would move there like a shot, or to Exeter, so I could at least visit. The ice-cream stand on the beach near the station was there in the seventies when I was a kid. Anyone know what year it was put there? I was so surprised to see it was still there after thirty years. Is it the same one or has the original one been washed away in a storm or something? Anyone?
Doesn't anyone use this site?
Just been to Dawlish with my partner, had a great time. The sun was out, the crowds had gone and the people we spoke to made us very welcome.
Two places I'd recommend to any visitor are the Terrace in Dawlish, great breakfast and staff and the Mount Pleasant in Dawlish Warren, I've never seen a pub so busy out of season. Beer was good, landlord very friendly and the views breathtaking.
I'm coming back soon as I've just retired!!
