Despite the forecast, last week wasn't too bad.
Friday morning was especially interesting along the sea wall!! Never seen it like that before in September. No boat trips though.
Our normal eatery, the Ugly Duckling, now closes in the evenings & we like to eat out every night.
Not impressed with Baileys, despite its upgrade.Tables not cleaned etc.One to be avoided.
Salamis is only average.Tinned veg.Yuck!
Twice ate at Witches Bowl, which is excellent apart from time of order to time of eating. Waiting time definitely needs to be addressed.
My wife took a liking to the contents of the Charlie Bear Shop, unfortunately!
Only used car once, to visit Lyme Regis.(Only £1.00 to park all day at top of hill!)
Otherwise used the train to Teignmouth,Torquay.
Back next April.
Hi I am a 21 yr old Dawlish resident and will agree there is no where gud to eat in Dawlish, me n my friends usually go to the boathouse dawlish warren, if you buy the dawlish gazette there is usually a 2 for 1 voucher on the bk. Foods nothing special, but it's cheap! x
have you tried too delicious on the strand...used to be a deli? they do really nice food on a friday and saturday night and as they don't have a licence its bring your own booze so that keeps the cost down. we've been a couple of times - nothing poncy, not pricey just good food - i'd highly recommend it. there's also the brewery round the back near cost cutter - haven't been for a while but i think there's new owners so worth a go! got to be better than the microwaved stuff they churn out at the boat house!
I have to agree that there is certainly a lack of decent places to eat in Dawlish.
However for friendly Customer Service and good food I have to say the Witches Bowl in Queen Street is consistently excellent. I personally don't mind waiting a little longer as I know the food will always be good. The attitude of the staff in the Ugly Duckling leaves much to be desired!
I suggest that the staff take some customer service training from Nick at the Smugglers Inn!
Yep, Nick's done really well at the Smugglers. The food's good, the service is friendly and quick and it's reasonably priced. It's just a shame it's not in the town center.
