Just as a matter of record. With the Sandy Lane toilets, these are going to be reconfigured to 2 plus a disabled facillity, and the remaining part to be available for use as storage or other uses. The Town Council agreed to contribute to the running of the toilets after the reconfiguration, and also to contribute to the cost of the reconfiguration. As far as I am informed the girder and wire 'fence' is just a temporary measure and will be removed. I do not know if there will be any form of replacement.

Giving the right to buy to private tenants would decimate that part of the housing market, and bring down the price of housing. That could be a good thing, except that many people will go into negative equity, and ultimately this would cause another banking crisis.

We are independent candidates not wishing to inundate people with too many leaflets. Just trying to be efficient. There are other independent candidates across the three wards of course.

As far as I know there are a couple of options in discussion for the last part of the route into, and out of, the town. This is great news for the town.

Both Dawlish and Teignmouth have X-Ray facilities, but neither are available every day. The proposed changes will provide a much better service for both towns, open 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. The alternative will be  to use the MIU at Newton Abbot with the eventual closure of both local hospitals.

I can’t speak for other local councillors but I certainly have been concerned about this issue, and am listening to what people in the town are saying. Some agencies seem to be interested in having the park as close to the Warren as possible so that holidaymakers and locals alike will spend time there rather than on the Warren itself. The reconfiguration of the sea defences on the Warren itself ...

@SoulofDawlish i have no idea what the council officers were told. but interpretation of what is being advised can be very subjective. i would say that it is a 'no brainer' to make bridges high enough to accommodate future technologies. i just think it is a big step to suggest that this can be interpreted as meaning that 'electrification is feasible' along the sea wall through dawlish, even if ...

This is a great idea, and is achievable. As well as adverts on the train, there should be something on the sea wall itself to mark the area. I have suggested a statue of Brunel. It would be worth considering a joint venture with South Devon College and the University as well as the Community College, and I'm sure Network Rail would be interested with regard to the eduational trips.

The strengthening of the seawall at Dawlish won't stop a couple of minor delays caused by big waves, in the same way that an alternative route away from the coast won't stop delays caused by leaves on the line, snow, flooding or the hundreds of other things that cause disruption.

The size of the banners is entirely dependent on the design of the lamp posts and the fixings. We wanted to put larger banners up for this year but were told categorically that it was not possible. A review of the banner design will be made again for next season as some banners require replacement anyway. Bigger banners will only be possible if full stress tests are carried out on the lamp posts.

For the shops to survive and to encourage new shops to come to the town, we have to encourage people to come and spend time here. Dawlish is well know nationally, and indeed internationally, for its' waterfowl and black swans, yet whenever anyone discusses anything about the town centre and the lawn, and visitor attractions nothing is ever mentioned about improving the brook and the environment ...

Always thought the Powderham road was known as the Kenton By-Pass. The other road 'up over the top' is a useful road, but only until too many people start using it.

I tried nearly all of them a couple of times.. as I said.. extensive research, but I restricted it to Full English Breakfast available all day long. Bailey's wasn't bad, but I didn't like the atmosphere or service. It was just for fun... have also separately visited a lot of the country pub restaurants around the area for lunch. There are a lot of good places.

Great to see new shops coming in to town. Yes some will cause increased competition, but that is not a bad thing, will cause the affected shops to reconsider their offerings. Dawlish can only improve if there is change, and perhaps some disruption will occur.

I went in to sign the book of condolences for the red arrows pilot the other day, and was greeted only by smiles and help from all members of staff I spoke to, blonde and brunette, and I wasn't even buying anything.

Agree with ZIGGY. Was surprised to see the fair taking up so much of the Lawn. Can't really see that Sainsbury's making a donation to the carnival is anything but good. I didn't get to the carnival.. did they have a float taking part? That would have been better.
