Patients would have to travel to Dawlish instead, South Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said.

The CCG said the move would improve the quality of services at Dawlish, with longer opening hours and X-ray facilities.

What constitutes a minor injury? It would be useful for us all to have an idea then we'd know to go either to our nearest MIU or the RDE.

Info on here might help http://www.torbaycaretrust.nhs.uk/ourservices/Minor%20Injuries%20Unit/Pages/Default.aspx

does Dawlish and/or Teignmouth have x-ray facilities? Ask as a few years back I slipped and lost all movement in my arm. Didn't even enter my head to go to Dawlish MIU. Went off up to the RDE and x ray showed I had broken a bone.

Teignmouth definitely has X-ray facilities. Don't know about Dawlish.

Dawlish Hospital is excellent.  They have referred me on to Exeter RDE when necessary, prebooking my son in when he needed urgent plastic surgery.  I don't think they currently have xray, I think it's either Teignmouth or Newton at the moment.  The problem is you can guarantee you have a serious accident once everything closes for the evening!

Dawlish Hospital do X-ray facilities  I have had three and no waiting, not like the RDE  where you have to wait some time.

We need to keep Dawlish Hospital  OPEN.

Looks as if it's a limited service at the moment which is probably why family have been referred to Newton before -

Monday - 1.45-4.14pm

Wednesday - 1.45-4.15pm

Increased x ray service provision is one of the key benefits of these plans.

We also get increased MIU hours for the two towns with the service being integrated with the out of hours doctors service.

The two towns also get improved rehabilitation care based at Teignmouth where there are better facilities for that service than at Dawlish.

Dawlish town council was impressed by Dr Fox's presentation and endorsed the proposals

I have had X rays at Dawlish quite a few times and agree with Brian Devon hardly any waiting time. I have also had Minor Surgery at Teignmouth. Having looked at the proposals I think its a fair proposal and we can only win with the proposals on offer. Its not difficult to get to either Hospital even if you have to use public transport.Having to go N/A, Torbay or RD&E will for Minor Injuries. Also its great it will be intergrated with the Out of Hours Drs.

Both Dawlish and Teignmouth have X-Ray facilities, but neither are available every day. The proposed changes will provide a much better service for both towns, open 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. The alternative will be  to use the MIU at Newton Abbot with the eventual closure of both local hospitals.
