Hedging your bets there Burneside? I do not accept your characterisation or your logic, however I would agree that an out-of-touch Tory party leadership conducted a disastrous Remain campaign (on the back of a dismal pre-referendum EU negotiation display by David Cameron) which emphasised more the negative aspects of leaving, rather than the positive reasons to remain. The Remain side was not ...
Traditionally, Mothering Sunday was a day in the middle of Lent given to children to return to their "Mother Church" and usually involved families reuniting. Developing from tradition, nowadays children give their Mother's gifts on what is more commonly known as Mother's Day. With Mother's Day coming up this Sunday, there's no better time to think of your family and guarantee their protection ...

Just do what others and show complete disrespect by parking wherever they want, even in the reserved spaces for the doctors. Also, as everyone has a timed appointment, the car park shouldnt be that full, especially as there are plenty of spaces in the Barton car park next to the museum. Or get the town (#186) bus.

As far as I am aware, the Methodist Church still run a pre-school play group. My children enjoyed it when they were infants. Runs on a Thursday morning so call in the church and ask staff at the cafe about it? You can get a really nice coffee and cake from them too. There is a pre-school called Sandy Toes running at Dawlish Warren. They have a facebook page and I believe they run it at the church ...
Yesterday's fixfest was well attended with over 40 fixes provided by highly skilled volunteer fixers. The organisers hope to do something similar again in the autumn.
An interesting observation by the photographer - "He also spotted the very rare sight of the DRS class66s no's 66424 and 68301 double headed. The yearly flask train from Crewe Coal Yard to Keyham Dock Yard (DEVONPORT)." Why would waste nuclear material be sent to a Naval Dockyard? and significantly only once a year. The schedules for all other shipments is very regular and all go from the Nuclear ...

The now derelict building near the viaduct known as 'The Pirates Chest' has been empty for some time now and is set to be demolished by Network rail. No official date has been given but it's thought it will be within the next month or so. Our first picture was taken on a summers day in 2015 and the second after the terrible storm damage ...

Unless the law has changed since I knew, you can operate a two way radio whilst driving. However police radios now incorporate a mobile phone which arguably means that its use falls under the same legislation as mobile phones. This means that if a police car is is single manned, the driver will have to park legally before talking on the radio. In a fast moving emergency situation (such as a ...

This country is a total sh*t hole.
Someone contacted me earlier today expressing concern that Sandy Lane Playing fields would now be under threat of development given that Dawlish is to have a new country park. For info this is what I replied and what I understand the situation to be. The country park has to be an additional green space to that which already exists so it is no threat to Sandy Lane playing fields. Sandy Lane Playing ...

I've moved down here recently from a city where I used to have to wait two to three weeks for a non emergency appointment with a doctor, and it was not unusual to be called by that surgery to delay that appointment nearer to it. After registering at the Barton Surgery, I went and asked for a non emergency appointment, during a busy week in my life, expecting the same service. First I was offered a ...
