I have heard (Don't know if there is any truth in it) that one of the black swans nesting opposite the Monkey House, was found dead with a broken neck. No feathers to give any indication of how it happened.
Is there any truth in it? After all, they were brooding 7 seven eggs.
If you look at Dawlish Waterfowl on Facebook it does give a short update, yes she died but it doesn't mention how, but it does say that they are continuing the incubation
Very sad.

Sad news: Unfortunately we have lost the female black swan that was nesting up near old post office, dad is well and pining on the nest. At this time we do not know what the cause of her death is. The eggs she was sitting on have been collected and taken in to the duck hut. We have checked them all and all seem to show signs of life, so they have been placed into the incubator and currently one is beginning to hatch. These now will be hand raised by the wardens
This swan was sitting there quite happily yesterday and to be found dead the next day seems a little suspicious to me.
