Would you open a shop in Dawlish?

27 Jul 2009

Given the high rents and business rates etc..who in their right mind would open a shop in Dawlish knowing people long for failure and everything is available online cheaper plus delivered to your door!

DEBATE????

You can understand why many other towns do not have a forum when you see what can happen by two or three people. Negativity sadly thrives in Dawlish. The forum I agree is pointless now.

Exeter is best for work, Dawlish is mainly holiday trade and small shops. You need the Exeter 'Express and Echo' for jobs. Have a look here > http://jobs.thisisexeter.co.uk/ Hope that helps.

What happens if the sea does go as high as they say it will? That so reminds me of the person who said to me once, 'it's so good to have a bus service, hope they don't take it off, I've never used it but is good to know it's there!'

Best chips in Dawlish

The Strand is best for me and they have a reputation to keep located where they are. I went to Queen Street once, chips were not cooked properly, agree plenty of them, also felt the staff made customers feel a nuisance.

That has to be fron a 'worried' taxi firm in Dawlish lol. 'Plenty will knock you down..but so few will help you up!'

YIPPEE!

End of the day it's all about 'envy'..what would anyone do if they win the lottery? At least the people who holiday in the second homes support local business.

Simple ..move away.

Empty Shops

Think carefully, business rates, electric etc and landlord charges will probably total around £15,000 pa £285 per week to pay out.. Also remember people in Dawlish just sit back and love to see a new business fail. You will be ok if you can sell enough to the holiday trade. Could you sell over the internet?.. imagine how much you can save! If you really still want a shop you would probably do ...
