A 35-tonne truck has been abandoned after being swamped by the sea in Devon. Network Rail said no-one was injured and it was investigating how the truck became "overwhelmed by the incoming tide". One appliance from Dawlish and one from Teignmouth were mobilised to a report of a three vehicle road traffic collision at the above location.  Two people were believed to be trapped within the vehicles. The nine-week project, which was finished ahead of schedule, saw large sections of the hospital’s roof replaced after suffering years of leaking. Firefighters have been battling all afternoon to stop a huge blaze at a car breakers in Devon from spreading. The winter storms moved about 100,000 tonnes of sand and damaged sea defences at Dawlish Warren. The work includes creating a new embankment on the warren, strengthening the seawall to protect buildings in Exmouth and moving about 25 million tonnes of sand back on to the beach. Teignmouth Coastguard and an ambulance crew were called to Coryton Cove, Dawlish after an eight year old girl got into trouble in the water on Saturday afternoon. The crews received the call out just after 4pm and she had to be pulled from the water. An ambulance was on hand for the youngster following the rescue. Source: ...

One fire appliance from Dawlish attended a car on fire, which was well alight on arrival. Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to put the fire out. Crews also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots. The cause of the fire was accidental. A date has been set for the trial of a man accused of raping and imprisoning a woman in Dawlish. JELLYFISH strandings along the South Devon coast may be due to the weather, wildlife experts say. The town council's finance committee has agreed to fund the church-based scheme to the tune of £2,000. The idea is to cut crime and protect vulnerable people in the resort at night.
