Brixham coastguard took a 999 call from a Dawlish mother after her little girl was stung by one of the jellyfish on Sunday morning. The child was not said to be seriously ill but the mother was concerned and advised to take the child to a doctor.
Is this different from the Barrel jellyfish which have been drifting ashore? The Barrel does have stinging cells but they are designed to kill plankton. They are not supposed to be strong enough to pierce human skin.
